As long as the fuel control unit assembly under the timing cover / shut down rod is working correct and moving free the shut down cable will always shut down the motor. Before I try and start any multi fuel I do not know I remove the two screws on the timing cover shut down rod and make sure the...
When looking at the FDC wedge plate you will see the taper or how it looks like a wedge. When FDC is working and engine running it goes to the setting for what fuel you are running and stays there or higher on the ramp decreasing fuel but as said going to working specs. Then we bypass and the...
Since digging into the TM's again I was wrong and the FDC with is pressure regulating valve and orifice keep the pressure at 20/ 21 psi. So as soon as the engine starts and we have the 30 psi min. the FDC goes to the setting for that fuel and stays there. Page 1-30 /1-31 TM paragraph C. The 60...
Yea you might need to see why you are low on idle pressure and as said it should be 30 psi minimum not 20 at the filter bleed. Can be filters and can be other things that are easy to check.
I am with you on this one and if you look at the Troubleshooting manual page 33 34 the droop is adjusted after the main fuel and only when we for some silly reason still have the FDC hooked up. It does not add any fuel or decrease any fuel and gen sets do not have an FDC but do have problems...
My A3 ran fine and always started but the check valve also ticked. Believe the fuel pump pulses and that causes the check valve to tick so we called it the truck Timex.
Getting old and forgetting just about everything and getting a spare tire around the waistline. For this reason if I remember I cocked the wheels hard to the right before I got started on the job. Helped me get into the engine without crawling over the front right tire.
Yea my oil cooler gaskets were leaking and went to Cat and got new embossed gaskets. I also used four correct bolts with the heads cut off to help hold the two plates and two gaskets together to help install of the cooler bolts. Also had to grind down a boxed end wrench just a little to get one...
Can not remember if it was a TM but you can check to see if the check valve between the tanks is holding correct. Drain the outer tank of air if I remember and the inner tank should hold air pressure for the airpack with no leakage into the outer tank.
You might try and check the delivery valve. Easy to check / clean and there are posts about it with pics. Also two hole injectors should be set at 3500.
Myself 260 / 270* EGT on the Duramax and 5 minutes without a pyro on the MV's. For the Duramax it is about 2 minutes to get there but the turbo is also water cooled. With 260 /270* EGT I believe the metal in the turbo shaft has cooled down enough to shut down.
