Don't have a precise way of weighing it, unfortunately. Utilizing weight comparison, that 5# dumbbell + fat gripz was similar, so I'd guess in the 6-8# range. 10# was too heavy, 5# was too light, but was closer to 5 than 10.

Some interesting, uneven, wear scars on the inside of the 2nd gen thrust washer as well.

Thrust bearing pictures and also some clutch pack pictures. Not sure how I want to clean those clutches so I haven't yet, just wiped down the reaction plates and set them out. I test fit the new thrust washer, then removed it to parts clean the C6 clutch housing since I'm sure I got some...

Disappointing to hear but will continue on. It's been 12months since I put fresh oil in it, 8 months since I drove it, and ~3mo since I ran it. I'm also concerned about the torque converter, but hoping that there is some drainback for both C7 and the TC. Incoming shortly good sir. I...

Well, I got the C6 housing cover off using the 4x4 brace method suggested here: https://www.steelsoldiers.com/threads/m1078-a1-transfer-case.195212/post-2596321 Only needed to lift it a couple inches so I could pull the cover back. When I removed the C6 clutch housing, non-emulsified oil...

    M1078 A1 transfer case

Successfully removed the C6 housing on my M1078A1 using the 4x4 brace method. Not too bad, and some convenient spots. I left the rear 2 bolts holding the bed down, but loosened them. Hoping they'll help keep the alignment of the bed as I lower it. MTF on that I guess.

... yup :/ Well, emulsified oil on the bottom with a little bit of brown oil on top/last out from drain. What are your thoughts on that ? Is what I'm doing even worth it ?

Well, I got all the parts cleaned up as best I could. Auto transmissions are wizardry, I swear. The entire valve control bodies disassembled with only 4 tools: 10mm socket 4mm Allen 3/32 punch Small hammer to tap the pins out Collecting new gaskets, O-rings, and a suction filter...

    M1078 A1 transfer case

Allison spent the time/money to engineer 2 replacement parts for the entire series of 3070/3700 which I have to assume is running ATF in non-mil applications so I'd say high enough to warrant engineering a replacement part ?

    M1078 A1 transfer case

I don't have any needle bearings, metal pieces, or anything pointing to C6 failure, that I know of. I'm trying to replace it to hopefully prevent that. Oh that's a good technique. Huk bolts were cut a year ago, have some 10.9 replacement bolts so dont even need the angle grinder for your...

    M1078 A1 transfer case

For future readers: Went out to attempt to remove the C6 clutch housing with the bed on the truck; not possible. There's a bed crossmember just barely in the way. I'm going to have to wait until I remove the bed.

Forgot to mention I printed these little parts based on the diagrams in the TM for valve body spring compression tools. They worked well, and I'd recommend this 30min print over grinding a notch in some 1/2" ID & 1/2" OD steel pipe haha.

    M1078A1 "Pandora" Build | 2024-??? | ***Picture Heavy***

Kind of discouraging news for an update. I have had a leak on the valve body since we swapped the transmission in Texas, and then double swapped the valve body. I tricked a buddy to come over and help me drop the valve body, since it weighs 65# and has some delicate parts in it. 4hrs...

For the first time in 38 days, the cab is up ! Hydraulic hoses took a bit to figure out since it was such a compact form factor but they're on there and don't have much strain on the fittings, if any. I replaced the hoses going to the frame passthru but made sure to bleed all the old...

Waiting on another hydraulic hose to ship but got the pump put back together, printed a 1/8" spacer for the bottom of the selector (the plastic knob is co-planer with the mounting surface), and started assembly of the fittings that had dedicated places/orientations with some Loctite 545...
