    MEP-016D generator

I've been playing with my new MEP-016D generator and all I have to say about this engine is "SMOOTH" !!!! It is the smoothest running diesel I have ever seen. I have other Yanmar engines and they run nice but this one is the best. I plan on buying another engine for my air-compressor project.

    Driveline safety hoop.

I remember working on a Kenworth in 1979 that had lost it's u-joint just behind the transmission. It took out both saddle fuel tanks and some air hoses and wiring. It took days to fix this truck. After I went to work on the buses at the transit department I noticed all the drivelines had a...

    Don't lose your nuts !

I recently bought a fuel tank for the deuce for my auxiliary tank project. I tore everything apart, cleaned the tank and the fuse housing. Replaced the fuel pump and sending unit and was in the process of reinstalling the fuse housing when I realized I had lost the 3 nuts holding it down. No...

    Brake light switch

A number of people have contacted me about the brake light switch I used on my system. So I decided to post it here. The first picture is the drivers side air-pac and switch. The second picture is the passenger side air-pac and switch. The reason I went to this switch and didn't reuse the...

    New Intake

Here's some pictures of my new Donaldson "Topspin" pre-cleaner. It seems to be a pretty good unit. The side of the housing has a slot (seen in picture 2 ) at the top and when driving air is forced in causing an impeller to spin. This spinning forces the large particles of dirt and dust to fling...

    Stering column shaft end size

Does anyone know what size this end clamp is ? (Gama-Goat steering column) It appears to be 3/4" X 36 splines . I measured it with the calipers and got a measurement of .860" . Of course this is a bolt clamp so I don't know how much it is spread open to accurately tell. Also does anyone know...

Why do the Hydraulic Head clips fall off.

Someone here was asking why do the HH clips fall off ( I think it was David). I found out while reading the Manual (what a concept, reading the manual ! ) that the HH must match the injection pump body. There is a different spring located under the HH for different models of pumps. Now this is...

    M105 Trailer Modifications

This is my "Expedition" M105 trailer. I have been modifying it for some time now. I added the tire carriers so I could take off the tire carrier on the deuce (for a spare fuel tank). you can see how I drilled out the inner frame to get access to the bolts. I also rebuilt the air system. New...

Carrying extra fuel or water cans

I needed extra carrying capacity for Coolant and possibly fuel. The problem is the deuce does not have to many places to attach a spare can too. I have seen photos of Vietnam deuces with the fuel cans hanging off the rear mud flaps and thought that would be a good idea. I know there is someone...

    Dual fuel tanks

I have a quick question for anyone who has put a extra fuel tank on there deuce. After you remove the spare tire carrier, how do you deal with the parking brake cable ? Do you cut a new hole in the frame and reroute it higher ? Will that work ? Any clearance issues ? Thanks.

    M105 trailer tail lights.

I have only owned "1" M105 trailer so I'm no expert here, but I never heard that they used an "aluminum" housing with the "Black-out" lights being "LEDs". Do all the M105 trailers have these lights ? and where can I buy more. I would like to put some on my Deuce. My Deuce lights are the cheap...

    Deuce Lug Wrench

Here's another "consumer awareness report" . I have an original military "Ken Tool" Lug Wrench for my deuce, but since I always like to have a back-up I decided to buy another one. The problem came when I bought this tool from a business on eBay. They have sold a lot of these wrenches saying...

    M105 Trailer Brakes Master Cylinder

Does anyone know where I can get a master cylinder rebuild kit for the M105 trailer ? I don't which model exactly it is as the data plate is missing. The master cylinder is applied by a large air can and the wheels have 2 wheel cylinders each. The cylinder bore is 1-1/16" . The seals have...

    Auxillary Lights

I bought these lights from "gimpyrobb" (Chris) and installed them as back-up lights and auxiliary front lights. I've waited to post these pictures until I bought more lights from Chris. I wanted to make sure I could get more ! These lights are extremely well made and bright ! I'm surprised Chris...

NATO fuel can in a Deuce fuel holder

I finally got my NATO fuel can to set firmly in the fuel can holder. I love the NATO fuel cans. In my opinion they are far superior then the old U.S. military style . So I wanted to carry one on my deuce. The problem was, since the NATO cans have a rounded bottom they will rock when put into the...

    Mep-531a

Does anyone have or know where to get the generator from a MEP-531A ? I don't want to buy a whole unit as my engine runs great ! If I can't find one I'm thinking of adapting a civilian unit behind the engine. Has anyone done that before ? Thanks.
