    It followed me home. Honest...

OK, this is really pissing me off now ! I was set to go up and pick-up a truck from Lyle after visiting Dave (plowboy) in Edmonton. If Lyle still has the registration will it still work ? Of course I believe he said it was lost.

    It followed me home. Honest...

Well that truly sucks ! Now I know why Lyle up there at "100 Mile House" was so pissed off last week when I talked with him. So what will happen to people like me who want to get an old truck and bring it down here to the States ? Are they going to be stopping me from bringing it across the...

    303M HydraMatic rebuild

I search the internet and craiglist all the time trying to find parts for the HydraMatics. One problem I have come across several times is the seller has some part that is NOS still in it's original wrapper or sealed box. The problem is these parts are almost 70 years old. The box or wrapper has...

    303M HydraMatic rebuild

Well my search for some machine shop to help fabricate the throttle lever shafts has proven futile. Unless I want 1000 units or more, most shops don't even want to talk with me. So that leaves me with using shafts from civilian HydraMatics. The problem there is, they too have a tendency to get...

    303M HydraMatic rebuild

I also rebuilt the oil pan and installed it today. I use some spray gasket on the fiber washers for the water side of the cooler. Then I put some assembly grease on the cooler where the fiber washers will make contact. Then install the cooler making sure you install the fiber washer, ring and...

    303M HydraMatic rebuild

I finally installed my new transmission holder. Works great. You can really see the difference between the hold-down bolts. This new holder will take that "303M HydraMatic" all day long !

    My 1952 M135 Build

This diagram was from the 1980's, so nothing really new here. I threw out the modern diagrams from "New Flyer" sorry. Maybe I might find another cache somewhere else.

    303M HydraMatic rebuild

So I guess I'll aim for June then. Thats just a very simple normal valve body. On later car HydraMatics they got a little bit more complicated. Of course not nearly as complicated as say an Allison 1000 series or worse yet a Chrysler 68RFE , or an GM 6L90E or any new transmission out there. The...

    My 1952 M135 Build

That's great news ! Also I found an air diagram for a 40ft bus I'll post for you. I was cleaning out an old cabinet that had a few of my old manuals. One had an air diagram for the 40ft Gillig bus. That should show you what a normal medium size vehicle air system looks like. Sorry about the...

    303M HydraMatic rebuild

Hey Dave (Plowboy) . When does the snow usually leave your area ? In other words, when will it be safe to come up there ? I'm thinking late spring early summer. Does that sound about right ?

    303M HydraMatic rebuild

That lever, (which gets hit and bent all the time) gets a push from the rod attached to the Carburetor . That tells the valve body how much engine power is being asked for. Full throttle tells the transmission to hold back on shifting or to downshift (depending on governor pressure) to keep the...

    303M HydraMatic rebuild

Some might be wondering why I've been so slow in building this HydraMatic. One reason is parts availability. I've had to cannibalize several transmissions just to get enough "good" parts to finish this transmission. Another reason is I've had to have several parts "modified" or outright built...

    303M HydraMatic rebuild

Today I installed the reduction housing. That new crane I built made installing this housing a breeze ! Without it, I would have had to use a "cherry picker" or had another person help me. That housing is heavy ! My hand is healing up after my thumb injection last Monday. That shot hurt ! Make...

    My 1952 M135 Build

Yep the Pinion gear seal. The original military one was a special low profile double lip seal. They were really a cool design. Sadly I haven't seen any since the late 1980's. I know you can "flip" a seal, but it isn't the same as having that factory double lip seal. It really kept the crud and...

G749 Trucks hard to come by

Just finished reading your thread tonight. Never read the whole thing before. Too bad you never bought any of those "reduction" kits from Fatsco. Or did you ? I've talked with Steve down there many times this last year, and all they have now is a few seals but nothing major anymore. Also you...

Hey 1944mb. Did you ever dig into your HydraMatic transmission ?

    303M HydraMatic rebuild

I finally finished the crane ! Working by myself and moving such heavy items (the main tube is 4" sch 160 DOM) is a real pain. I have to get very creative at times. Now I just need to install the new transmission holder I made, and I can get back to the rebuild.

    My 1952 M135 Build

Your giving me nightmares ! At "Ben's Truck Parts" in downtown Seattle, I was required to rebuild four of these smaller differentials a day. It got to the point I couldn't stand looking at them. Thankfully there were other transmissions and differentials to rebuild. Did you happen to find anyone...
