They would NEVER expect to find just diesel fuel. Probably throw them off their game.

It doesn't need a skid plate. It is probably designed to un-latch automatically when something solid strikes it. No real threat to the owner, plus if it survives, someone gets 5 gals of free diesel. Win/win!
