You pulled the engine with the radiator in place? Personally, I would have pulled the radiator and given serious thought to removing the core support, it's not that many bolts and you wouldn't have to lift the engine so high. In the past I've pulled the engine and tranny out the front, that was...
I've had good luck painting them , even changing colors. I wash them with soap and water and a stiff brush, dry well and then (using gloves) wipe down with lacquer thinner, really soak it and make sure to use a LINT FREE RAG, the plastic will get a bit sticky, at that time let thinner flash off...
Before I'd jump on the fuel pump, I'd be looking really hard at the filter assembly. I doubt the leak is big enough to see fuel dripping but you may find a damp spot, do you have a way to pressurize the fuel tank? Just a few (5psi) will show you where the leak is. If you can pressurize it and...
Some of the above is dead on, it's cold outside. What happens to oil and grease when it get cold? It gets thicker, from the oil in the pan putting more drag on the oil pump to the ATF in the tranny and TC all the way to the differentials and wheel bearings. The cold also effects the tires and...
In all these years and all the tranny's, I've removed, I have never come across any spacers that I remember. If I ever did I'd think some shade tree mechanic did a hack job.
Pulling something out of a stuck situation is totally different than towing down the road.
My son (kids know it all and old men know nothing) didn't believe me that towing a 30' camper behind a square body Blazer was a horrible idea. I had no idea what I was talking about! Then he used the...
As a guy that has never had a new vehicle I've rarely seen that, and the ONLY time I have seen the oem U-joints with that plastic has been on CUCV's and they have been some of the oldest vehicles I've had, kinda odd.
All that is available and probably cheaper than redoing both diff's. I'm not familiar with most tranny's mentioned but I do know about the 700R4 I swapped one in and left the 4.56 gears and easily cruised at 65-70 . The problems would start when I hit a hill, it doesn't take much of a hill or...
A lot of this gear ratio talk is lost on me, but knowing that the 6.2 is such a power house and torque monster why would you want any tranny that has a double over drive? A M1010 is heavy to start with, get it loaded for camping or whatever and it's not going to go very fast except downhill!
