Well, upfront, I know that you have way more experience than I do on these units. So take this as a dumb thought from someone new to these units, but here goes.
I believe that the reason for the slot in the linkage, rather than say a single bolt hole, is that the bolt onto the governor does...
I did wonder how the M1 coped with dust.
I came across one for pickups; 16 generators packed into a 3x5" air intake, for use in high dust environments.

Even if the other contact cleaners work, I would still order some, and use it on all of the rotary switches.
Deox-it is pretty amazing stuff. I would call it cheap insurance, if it keeps a switch from breaking. FWIW, I haven't used another brand since I first used Deox-it, many moons ago.
All...
@Guyfang Thanks for the knowledge. I had to go look up vortex tune separators and inertial particle separators. Learn something new every day!
All the best,

It is such an angular glass/silica that it looks like a demon abrasive
I have been told that it aggregates...
Frequency gauges don't have a great reputation for accuracy. If it were me, I would use a frequency (Hz) sensor on a DVM, or hook up a dedicated one, and plug it in to the convenience outlet. I wired up an inexpensive digital one to an extension cord as a portable monitor for generators. It is...
Great! Once you pour, keep it wet for as long as you can. Concrete continues to build strength for as long as a year if it stays wet. I spray water on it and cover it with polyethylene sheets. Keeping it wet initially cuts down on the shrinkage, and reduces the tendency to crack. I try for at...
My rule of thumb is that you want the base to weigh significantly more than the installed machine. That forces (pun intended) the vibrational energy to be absorbed in the absorbers. If the base is too light, it becomes a transducer for the vibrations.
I agree with @Ray70's advice above. If you...
Once you have the pump in acetone / carb cleaner, in a sealed container, you also can put the container into the water bath of an ultrasonic cleaner for a while. I prefer containers like ziplock bags or latched containers so the lids don't vibrate loose. Due to flammability concerns, I would...
If it is leaking there, you might want to check really carefully for debris, or a scratch, or any imperfection on both the injector and the injector line and giving the mating surfaces a thorough cleaning before replacing anything. A leak there will also have a significant impact on the ability...
Have you bled the diesel line all the way to the injector? Are you getting no bubbles at the injector?
I ask because in the video it looks to me as if there is air swirling around in the bowl of your filter. These engines are fairly intolerant of air in the line from the pump to the injector...
That is probably a smart move. You should also fully drain / inspect / clean the tank (and check the seals on the tank), to make sure that there isn't more water in there, and that there isn't a piece of debris in there that could float over and partially block the intake. It would be time well...
I agree with @kloppk that crank does sound weak. Can you jump this with a strong set of batteries?
Just going to ask two dumb questions for when you get the magnet/cranking issues sorted; did you check to make sure that the pin in the pump engaged the fork in the rack (by checking under the...
There are also Fastenal and McMaster as possible sources; sometimes more expensive, sometimes not. I bought a monster bag of the captive nuts off eBay when a computer rack company shutdown. I bought stainless rivet nuts for a couple of what I thought were awkward locations.
I have been shifting...

Shipping was a little more reasonable and it comes with washers / o-rings. Easy to replace and the flats on the threaded portion make this version any easy and quick swap. (Thread a wire...
