When I was negotiating the sales price for this dozer I asked about its origin. They would not say. I asked for disclosure the condition of some things like current brake and clutch adjustments, track adjusters, history of any refurbishment. They would not disclose anything. It was kind of...
Well, the D7G had 10 gallons of 15w/40 in the push arm. The tilt cylinder hydraulic hoses were shot. Chaffed totally through the wire braid. C&C rebuilt the tilt cylinder but that was not the real problem. The cab door seals were shot. The cab air system was full of rat poop, dead fire ants, and...
Actually, it came from the oil field I believe. A farmer bought it in the early 200x and it sat in the pasture for 15 years. No military origins. I came along and made a deal on it after starting it up. Olive is my favorite color and I decided to give it the retired military motif. I thought the...
I have been so busy with truck and equipment rehab I have had no time to post my projects. Finally getting to a point where I can share some of the projects I have completed over the last 8 years. I use this my equipment in a small business so it is hard for me to stay current on Steel Soldiers...
So, I took a leap of faith and bought this beast. Was it a good decision? I think so, but time will tell... If you are interested in the discussion then just ask. Was it 100% ready to go? No!!! Was it worth the price paid? Maybe, we will see... I am in the process of adding AC and some of my own...
I'm not sure where to post information or questions regarding heavy equipment like D7G. I would like to know if anyone else on SS owns, operated, or worked on the D7G? Maybe a MV Heavy Equipment Forum?
Did the DOD ever add A/C to any heavy equipment?
I know where you can get some worn out units which have no titles. I think your best bet is to buy new or go shopping in Iraq for conflict motor pool stuff.
I was just perusing around and saw this... Was he 95% sure on this deal? Back in my high school days that metaphor meant 5% sure, and very little to no chance of coming through...:LOL:
Thanks! Don't mean to get off topic here. I will followup on that AC thread. I have a RedDot evaporator and condenser ready to go. I just need the compressor mount, or build one myself. That kit on eBay is too pricey for me without knowing more about it and the installation thereof. That is more...
There is so much to digest on SS. It's great! I just wish I had more time to read all the topics which are so helpful in solving maintenance and upgrade issues. I notice you have the AC compressor mounted. You also have a battery disconnect module on your generator. Is that correct? I want to...
I'm kind of lost on replying or post new comments. It's been a long time since I have used SS. Been very busy over the past 6 years. I have a bunch of rebuilds and mods to share. Anyway, here are some pics of the parts I ordered to complete a 4 port valve replacement.
Ok, This is all new to me and I haven't even removed one of these combat rims yet. I have several tires out of round, one has a major flat spot. I have a bunch of 18-22.5 (20 ply) jumbos which have been great. They are old as hell but 95% tread on them. I'm off-road most of the time so they are...
