I agree, 50" seems pretty short. I have a Heavy Duty tow bar that is carried on the front of my HEMTT just in case. I also have two sets of feet for it so my HEMTT can tow a 5 ton if needed or even the larger rigs like an M920 or such. Not sure how long my bar is, but it is a lot longer than 50".
If they are shipping all the surplus to 2 locations for auction the prices will increase significantly and a lot of possible buyers will be put off by that plus shipping. I used to buy local and that is now gone as many buyers are in the same boat as I. It will be interesting to see how this...
I would like to see how many HEMTT/MK48 owners we have here and get you to post pictures of your rigs. I'll start with a few pictures of my 1987 M985 HEMTT that was reset in 2001 and RSMS'd in 2009 and currently has 6500 miles since reset.
Hey Bigred350, did your M985 go through a reset/rebuild program in 2001? Also, is it an '87 model year? I would also be interested in the VIN as your rig looks like mine. I am curious as to how close the VINs may be. Here is mine after a WD40 application.

TM says 30 quarts with filter change, but my M985 took a few more than that. So start with 30 and check the level after a brief run and top as needed. You will enjoy the beast, I know I do mine. The only difference between your M977 and my M985 is the crane capacity. M977 is 2500 lbs and the...
That is deffinately a grove crane winch from a HEMTT. It is only rated to lift 5400lbs max. So unless you build a crane it is a bit useless.
Here are pics of a frame mounted winch on my HEMTT that is a 20K lbs unit. The LMTV/FMTV setup is very similar.
Use the Rapco for your touch up areas the WD40 the entire truck. Initially it will be pretty shiny but after a few days it will look more like new CARC. Here in my HEMTT before and after a WD40 coating. I even sprayed the tires and wheels too. I picked up a 1 gallon yard sprayer pump and 2...
