Thanks @Ray70 !! And thank you for giving me the idea of converting verses getting rid of the unit. I have no need for 3 phase anyhow. There were a few bumps along the way to converting but nothing major.
Ok gentlemen!
If anyone is still monitoring this thread. She is 99% complete! Here is some photos of the unit now. And a few of before.
Keep in mind I’m no painter but I think it looks much better. I need to do an oil change and add the spin on oil filter adapter and hook up one fuel pump...
So very true! This is one of the reasons I would prefer to do what I can myself. Plus with a machine of this age and caliber if it quits when you need it most there is no one to call to come fix it.
Haha! Thank you! I do appreciate it. However it was this group who got me here. Almost a month ago I had never heard of an MEP-002/003a.
Now with all the little issues I had getting it up and running and fixing mishaps from someone else I now understand this machine much better and she has a...
Short video of the lighting and conversion nothing much. The lights make it possible to see fuel level, oil pressure and if there are any leaks as well as for hooking up in the dark.
I will get a better video and photos when I can but this gives an idea of the lighting. As a fireman I’m gone a...
Well just a little update. The conversion has been completed for a week now. My 002 is up and running strong and producing power correctly and accurate.
I have loaded tested multiple different times as well as even had to use it for about 3 hrs due to power going out!! It has worked flawlessly...
@Guyfang
@2Pbfeet
Thank you both. I was successful at removing mine. They are just pressed in. I was able to use a C-clamp and spacer and pushed them out! Takes a little patience but not to bad.
Thank you. I tried to find them for sale but I don’t even know what they are called. I figured they may have been locked in with a type of glue or thread locker. I plan to try to heat slightly and then use a vise to try and push them out. Just wasn’t sure if anyone new how or if it could be done.
Anyone know how to remove the cubical front panel screw bolt that latches the panel close? I would
Like to remove them and reuse them if possible. Figured I’d ask before I break them or screw them up.
Yes sir that’s it. However I’m too far in to the conversion to turn back. Thank you for the offer and who knows I may need to turn back if this doesn’t work out. I’ll be in touch if so.
No sir I'm already to far into the conversion. I was just thinking that power was "leaking" out from the linear transformer and that's why my voltage was skewed. However I do have a brand new one that was in a box of parts that was given to me at the time of purchase. At the time I had no clue...
Well my parts are starting to arrive so I will begin converting soon. Also as I tore things out of the AC outlet box I think I found what my issue was!!!
Once I removed the CT’s I found my linear transformer/reactor was busted on one side and showed signs of overheating!! Not even sure what its...
@2Pbfeet
Thanks for recommending that. I did search that’s how I found that. But I couldn’t find the one with a double 30 plus a 20 and that wasn’t also an arm and a leg. I have since found one that I can use with a few little modifications.
@Chainbreaker
@Ray70 you are awesome your explanation sealed the deal for me to move forward!!
Here is what I have followed the most up to this point. (Link below) And of course there is more info out there. Anyone following this thread I know nothing about gen-sets so this could be a dud but I...
