The 6.2L was replaced with the 6.5L. The 6.5 came with a GM-8 turbo.
As I understand it, the turbo, intake, etc from a 6.5L will bolt onto the 6.2L. That is how I would try to do it.
It seems like I've read that, while most gasser to multi-fuel converted trucks got the overdrive, they kept the direct drive trans in the dumps on purpose.
Could also be a case of using whatever transmission was available (be it in inventory or from parted out trucks that were deadlined) to...
Just a guess, but might start by looking at the alternator/alternator belt first. If there is heavy load(like charging the batteries) applied while the truck is running, the belt might slip, squealing as it does. When you turn off the ignition and it takes the load away the alternators...
Don't know if this will help, but here's a snorkel setup on a suburban, which is about the same. Might require some adjustments for your application.

I'm sure the dually would pull it. The issue is stopping it. Just like a heavy trailer without brakes, it will push the truck around.
You might see if there are any members locally with a truck and a tow bar to flat tow it.
As far as the brakes on the dump, they are an air over hydraulic...
When going from neutral to 1st or neutral to reverse on my m51 I can hear the transfer case shift the sprag in the appropriate direction. Makes a thunk when it does.
I've never done it with the air system pressurized without the engine running, but don't know why it wouldn't work.
I had to replace the shaft in mine earlier this year, but I don't remember having any issues like you describe.
Where does it seem to be binding? At the bolts, like they aren't aligned? Could be paint too thick in the bolt holes making it tough to keep the bolts in line.
