Well I changed oil and filters again a week ago. This time I put on the 1458 napa gold filters that are supposedly the same as the Wix ones.... both with anti drainback valves. I bought the filters off ebay so i cant be sure how old they are (they look fine and new). Anyway, the filters both...
I couldnt figure out where the heck the fuel line leak was after replacing the valve and it turns out it was the new valve!
Turns out the new style flame heater nozzle from memphis was leaking though. They sent me a new "original" style design one that works well.
Well the new "improved" flame heater nozzle I got from Memphis is definately bad also. Hooked it up to an air compressor and it just started spraying air out the nozzle at any pressure. Called memphis and they had me talk to service, the guy sent me a new one of the original design that he had...
No you would need to put the probe on the exahust side. The flame heater hole is on the intake. If you put a probe in the flame heater hole you would be reading pretty close to ambient temperature.
No problem Deathrowdave, let me ask you this then. What direction does the check valve on the return line need to be in? I thought I read somewhere that the small line (higher pressure line from the pump) just is used to pilot activate the valve and that the return line is what supplies...
deathrowdave, any chance you can put a picture up of your setup?
Afterbeing unable to get the cap out of the rear of the original flame heater (until I got mad and drilled it then pulled it out with an easy out) I finally bought a new style one from Memphis and believe it must be leaking...
I dont think it was a problem with not following the torque spec... check out this poor casting in the first pic. The second 2 pics are of the machined replacement piece I made.
I reused the plastic fuel line, but replaced the fitting. I put a 1/4" compression to 1/4NPT elbow on to work with the new style flame heater. Probably a dumb question but is a compression fitting a compression fitting or are there special ones for fuel? I just got one from a home improvement...
I replaced the flame heater last week and ever since the truck takes much longer to start that before the "fix".
It did sit for 2 days with the return fuel line open and not attached. I expected it to take a while to start on the first start after hooking it all back up.
Prior to the...
yep, I admit I didnt get the torque wrench out..... I also didnt go that tight with it either though. I really doubt I got it to 32 ft/lbs and I was just testing it and not locking it all down yet.
Also your right about the drier. My truck doesnt even have a desicant can on it... didnt...
Its a tray I made to hold the generator for camping.... but when the generator isnt in it I find I use it to stand in while I'm working under the hood:)
I did the same thing with the muffler and the snorkle. I think the Donaldson muffler was the easiest project I have done to the truck... probably the only project that actually took me less time that I thought it would. It seems everything else I do to the truck takes 2-3 times longer than I...
Well I've been trying to fix this air assist since i got the truck a year ago. Its started leaking pretty bad from one vent on the bottom of the draglink. Anyway I started off with replacing the piston cup inside the ram, removed the frame rail mounted regulator as most folks suggest and...
Well I ended up getting a new one since I damaged the old one trying to get the plug off. I took the clip out and that cap wasnt coming out for the life of it. I ended up drilling a hole in it and using an easy out to finally pull the cap off the end. I bit the bullet and bought a new one from...
So I was just working on the 109 today and noticed this thing dripping diesel onto the turbo. I dont know what it does but it looks to be attached to the return diesel line. Its got another small tube going to it as well. This thing says UNIVALVE on it and appears to be leaking from the end (it...
I forgot to mention the only other large user of these parts is some giant bus company in Mexico that uses the air-o-matic on its city busses. Maradyne said that company (or government garage/whatever) places a big order for parts a couple times a year. Apparently if they are out of some part...
