I have the 20' CONEX containers. I have been looking for the M1076 for 6 months. No luck yet. We have some family here in Richmond, VA, but most of our family and resources are in Utah. The "Land Train" is exactly the idea.
I recently purchased a 1991 M1074 PLS with a winch, and a 1997 M1074 without. I have read most if not all the information on this site and others about these vehicles. I am waiting on the EUC to go pick them up. I plan on doing some interesting things with these, and thought I would start a...
This is not one of those threads you can delete, so I will just let everyone know that I no longer need a trailer. I found one that I hope will work as now I have two M1074's to pickup.
I am confused on how the TM's work. I have TM 9-2320-273-34 December 1980 & TM 9-2320-273-24P February 1990. Neither have wiring diagrams. Is the "20" different? How many TM's do I need to have a complete set?
Did you ever find the diagrams? I am in a similar situation. Mine starts BUT my 916 is a rebuild with the Allison Trans. Many things are different in the wiring system including the alternator/regulator. I would like to have a foldout paper diagram to trace wires and see what is different.
Well the Maiden Voyage of the HULK is finally over! The M916 is on the family Base and fixed. The regulator came, all is back together and works great. She is ready to haul some green friends home to keep her company. The first friend will be a M1074 PLS when the EUC is ready. That will be...
I just picked up my M916 and had the same experience. It ended up being the regulator was shot. I assume that at some point it was started and run with low, dead, or shorted batteries and took out the regulator. When I picked up the truck they had fresh batteries, which I thought was a...
The steering is "proportional" in that each steer tire can draw a straight line to the same imaginary point at the center point of the turning radius. The outside tire and the inside tire are at slightly different angles on the same axel as well. This is the only way to prevent massive tire...
I do have a CDL. I do have a DOT #. I do get "appropriate permits" now. I have a Dump Truck that pulls a CAT 320 Track Hoe that is 52,000# and is permitted to 120,000# GCVW as a wide load. I just do not have a trailer that has 36' on a deck that is 30" or less tall, and can carry 55,000#.
Yes I got the same feedback about the electrical issues. Has anyone flat towed one of these with a tow bar? If all the air brakes work, why couldn't I hook up to the air lines in the front of the M1074 and tow it wheels down?
I will test the headlight socket now that the regulator is removed to see if it is now 12 volt while running on the batteries only. My guess is when the regulator died it some how feed 24 volts to some circuits like the head lights. I did find some 24 volt sealed beam headlights that are a...
