    Greasing a Deuce

Thank you for the pics! I'll take another look under the truck to see if I can find them again. Regarding the steering knuckle kingpins: It sounds like I overgreased them, then. I was expecting it to come out somewhere like it did on the bottom. Perhaps the mount the bottom zerk is on isn't...

    Greasing a Deuce

I was greasing the front driver side kingpin bearings tonight. I greased the bottom one first and clearly saw grease coming out in a small gap between the bottom of the axle and the mount the zerk is screwed into. The top one seemed to take a lot of grease with none of it coming out anywhere...

    Can't drain fuel/water separator - Cat 3116

I don't think the Cat 3116 has one. The operator's manual says just to open the valve on the thing. It never mentions that the motor must be running, though. I can't speak for the multifuel.

    Can't drain fuel/water separator - Cat 3116

I finally got around to draining the fuel-water separator on the truck. I did it while it was running, so I chocked the wheels and donned safety glasses and ear plugs. I got under the truck, opened the drain and out came diesel! So it looks like my fuel system is pretty water-free. When I...

    Almost bought a truck today

I wouldn't mind a naturally-aspirated diesel myself. It would cut down on warm up and cool down times, and it's one less thing to worry about breaking. That's one of the things I find attractive about some of the 5-tons. The right turbo does sound cool, though. If no turbo is a deal-breaker...

    M45

Holy cow that's quite a collection! I'd keep it original. I don't think there are a lot of M45 fire trucks around, especially as unmolested as that one!

    Tranny/Transfer Drain Plug Dimensions

I ended up taking my deuce to a truck shop to have the plugs pulled. Does anyone have suggestions for replacement plugs?

Steel Soldiers MV of the month 2020 - May VOTE HERE

Here's my truck story: My M35A3 is the first military vehicle I've ever owned. I'm not stranger to the hobby, though. My dad got me into it with his collection, consisting of a 1942 Ford GPW, a 1942 Autocar M3 Halftrack, a 1952 Willys M38A1, and a 1953 Dodge M37. I learned what goes into...

    1952 Studebaker M35

My dad ran his halftrack off a 5-gallon can for awhile until he got the primary fuel tank sent out and coated. The little can made it painfully obvious how much gas the White 160AX sucked!:ROFLMAO:

Transfer Case Shifter Hard to put in High

With the way I drive my deuce, I can't think of any situation that I would want to shift from low range to high range on the fly. Why do I have to shift the transmission into neutral to switch ranges in the transfercase? Is there some kind of lockout? Is this the same with the A2s? Edit...

    M35A3 wheel question ?

I think for now I am going to stick with used 365s. For the amount I drive I think 50% tread will last me awhile. Plus I wouldn't have to mess around with switching all the tires out at once.

    1952 Studebaker M35

Nice find! When I was truck shopping, I was considering a 1952 Curtis-Wright M35, only really because it would probably be the only thing I'd ever own that was built by Curtis-Wright :ROFLMAO: And it would be somewhat a companion to my dad's Korean War-era vehicles. I'd be interested in...

    M35A3 wheel question ?

Please elaborate. If it helps you, I consider my truck the family's classic pickup. Whenever others are driving their classic muscle cars in the nice weather, I want to be rollin' in my deuce

    Tranny/Transfer Drain Plug Dimensions

I'm in the process of pulling the drain plugs out of my transfer case because their square holes are also rounded off and messed up. I may be able to get the fill plug off with heavy pliers or a pipe wrench since there's enough of it exposed. I was thinking about replacing the plugs with...

M35A3 with 395 spare wheel in stock location?

As I mull over whether to switch from 365s to 395s, I'm thinking about where to put the spare tire since I've read that it won't fit in the usual spot. My first thought was to put it in the bed, mounting it flat against the front center of the box similar to the M37. Then if I got a flat on...

Transfer Case Shifter Hard to put in High

THANK YOU FOR CONFIRMING THAT! Now I know there's one less thing wrong with my truck (y) I guess that data plate about the range downshift speed limits was a holdover from a previous life!

    M35A3 wheel question ?

I'm looking into replacing the tires on my A3. I'm not really a fan of the 395s because of their looks and potential rubbing between the tandem axles, but the used tires are so cheap! Are the 395s mostly used on the FMTV? I thought I read somewhere that 365/85R20s won't mount properly on the...

Transfer Case Shifter Hard to put in High

The lever won't budge when I'm driving it. Perhaps something's busted inside the machinery? I'm not planning on shifting ranges on the go, but I like it when stuff is set up to work properly!

Transfer Case Shifter Hard to put in High

I never realized double-clutching affected transfer cases. I can't double-clutch my automatic, though :p I'll have to pull the doghouse at some point and take a closer look.

Transfer Case Shifter Hard to put in High

Is it possible to shift ranges while the truck is moving? The gear speed limit dataplate makes it seem like it's possible, but I've only ever been able to shift it while the truck is stationary.
