Was using a tooth wrench to remove an oil filter on one of my humvees (a new purchase) and all the wrench does is poke holes in the filter. I know I can tear the filter apart and get it out that way. Anyone know an easier route? thanx.

    HMMWV Transmission - Identify

Buying a transmission that I believe has been repaired. Want to make sure it is indeed a 4L80. Here's the serial Number: 9KYP709084062. It's from Fort Hood and has the blue repair sticker on it. Another question....does this blue sticker mean it's been repaired, or that it needs repair? thanx

Willys - what year and what the heck!

NOT A Willys - what year and what the heck! Came across this in Roswell, New Mexcio. I am a Humvee person myself, but I really like how this looks. It starts and runs, but would barely move. My question is, what is it, and what is up with four front wheels? Was this an after war conversion? Is...

    M1097 - Serpentine Belt Issue

Got the mil spec serpentine belt I needed for my M1097, but the darn thing won't stay on. It comes right off as soon as I start the humvee. I did find that a 8 inch bolt on a guide pulley was bent, and after I replaced it, the belt stayed on for about 45 seconds and came off again. I have spun...

Already had a few humvees....just bought another that Govplanet said "Will not start....missing parts on engine." It's one of only a few M1097's which have been sold. It's a 1994 with only 2000+ miles. Anyway, got it home, put in new batteries...started right up. Just had to buy a new serpentine...

Hmmwv 6.5l purchased, turns out to be a 6.2l

Just got an email from a buddy in Houston who got his 6.5l HMMWV home to find out it was a 6.2l. Some people don't know how to tell the difference. When I checked the description...it says 6.5l. But upon inspection it was definitely a 6.2 with the bolt showing on the left side of the oil pump. I...

    HMMWV Lug Nuts

Wanted to replace a bunch of rusty, warn lug nuts. Seems that the only lug nuts I could find 9/16" R18 thread don't fit as tight going on as what I took off. The new ones glide right on, and when I put the old ones back on, I have to use the inpact driver. Appreciate any help.

What should I do...and what are my options legally.

I bought what I thought was a 1998 M998 HMMWV last month from a private individual. It has very low miles and a 6.5L with a TH400 Tranny. I noticed there was no "delivery date" on the aluminum info tags, so I did a little investigating (called a buddy at MMA - who used the serial number to...

ENGINE TEMP - How high is too high

Both my 1083 and 998 run pretty hot (205 -220). Both have the 6.5L's and I am wondering what I can do to get the temp down and make those engines last a little longer. Would a ram air intake help maybe?
