I only read a few pages... But, did you hone the liners? Did you follow the break in procedure from the TM? Did you happen to use synthetic oil for the first fill?
Sounds like your rings didnt seat!
For what its worth, the D turbo is capable of much more boost if you intercool the charge air. But it is very far out of its efficency map (which I have yet to see, but can tell by the temp and sound)
Heres a video of me testing with a small load. This is on diesel with the pump turned up...
The grit I referred to was the grit of the hone itself, 120, 180, 220, 240, 320, 400 are the options on the site. As well as material, aluminum oxide, silicon carbide, boron... Etc etc. I've always used oil when honing.
Awesome advice of just turning the engine over! I hadn't thought of that.
I have built a few gas engines and am familiar with honing, just wanted some more info on our rings and others' experience.
I figured a bottle jack may be an option as well. Was kind of hoping it would be easy, but with an interference fit, I dont expect it to be too easy!
Hey guys,
About to rebuild my engine, have all the parts in hand and have been studying the manual. Old versions for the lds-427 mentions honing the liners after install. Yet the newer manuals for the ldt and lds-465 do not mention honing. I pulled out one of the new liners from the box and...
The pump was on my doorstep when I crawled out of bed... It's really not that bad... Just looks like it was sitting for a long time. Little evidence of leaks or tampering.
I'm too busy putting an intercooler, radiator and turbo on my truck to mess with it right now. But I wonder, how easy is...
Dude, I just found that on eBay after reading this thread last night. Not kidding, I just typed in "multifuel injection pump". I was just curious to see what a normal one went for in case mine ever took a crap.
I am going to buy a lottery ticket today.
The transfer case air shift switch would be in the middle bottom of the dash with a red indicator above the switch. If you have it. If you don't see that, you have a sprag.
Welcome! I just moved from Edmond to Fort Worth. Great group of guys! I may visit soon!
Which reminds me... Warthog...
Read the whole thread... Very good coverage of brakes...
But in the end, did any one spell out what to buy to put discs on our trucks?
I found a disc brake kit on fleabay, but it's not presented well and it's from HI...
I want to put disc brakes on my deuce asap, but I am so lost after...
I have flipped the hubs twice in the past 2 years.
But I pulled it all back apart last night and checked out the hub to drum bolts. They were right and looked fine. I took them off to check the drum mounting, and it's flush.
I need a new drum, and want to check all my others. I've had a...
Holy moly!
What causes this? The hub is fine, it's just the drum. I found a leaking wheel cylinder and when I was putting it all back together I noticed the drum was wobbling. I took it back apart and found the inside metal was ground down. There wasn't any metal in the drum... So I assume...
I agree. I read most of his threads. It was clear he didn't know anything about diesels, compression engines or deuces. Whatever the case, I'm interested in finding a new turbo for my deuce. Not a stocker turbo either.
After further searching, I have come to the realization that the deuce...
Chevy Venture Van driver and passenger seats, rear center seat used as my center seat. Fits tight. Works well. Cup holders are great!
Don't have pics at the moment.
