I had the alternators rebuilt (yes they are both isolated grounds) and thought I installed the wiring correct, but I want to make sure before I start up the vehicle. I am mainly concerned about the stud that is not the main power supply on both alternators for a 24V system.
Anyways, can...
Where can I purchase the correct 24V alternators? Reman or new. One has failed and I am looking to replace both alternators and both batteries.
OD Iron doesn't even show them anymore, and they do not have a phone number either.
Thanks for the help!

I am driving along and at 45-50 mph, there is a little lack of power. Then when you hit 55mph its has all kind of power. Is this a injection pump failing. I have a new fuel filter installed with the factory setup. It also is a little hard to start. You have to pump the gas 2-3 times...
Its been a loonng time since I have done a 6.2 fuel filter purge. Isnt there a electrical connnection I am supposed to disconnect so I can crank over the motor but not start, allowing the mechanical fuel pump to work but the motor not to start?
Sorry for the stupid question!
Thanks
Thanks for all the help. It seems for the 1985, the easiest way is to find the trailer connector and modify that with a short lead to carry the civilian style 7 pin connector.
Can you purchase a harness for the trailer wiring that has the male end for a 1985 M1028 (guessing model does not matter) to convert to the standard connector? I would guess the plug from a military trailer? What about wiring diagram? There are more pins on the CUCV then a standard 7 pin...
thanks for the replies!!! I just purchased the truck and am basically going through everything. On my duramax motors, they are pretty good about cold starts, but on the older stuff I remeber it was a real pita in cold weather.
I will be replacing the glow plugs regardlesss, which I hear is...
I am yet to locate the plug. Being that these could have been used anywhere in the world (in theory) I would have thought they would have block heaters. Anyone know if there is one factory somewhere, if not a add on kit?
Thanks
Nick
I was wondering if anyone has ever converted a M1028 with the transfer case over to a 700R4? I know the standard truck and suburbans ran 700R4's with a 6.2, but there is different equipment.
I am guessing you sacrafice strength and it can be argued that a good trans shop/guy could help that...
