Im giving up. Im selling my MEP-701A. It runs really great!! It just wont generate electricity. I dont know enough about these things to be able to fix it.
Im in WV. If anyone is interested in this thing, come and get it!!
I took my MEP 701a to the shop the other day to get the AVR fixed that i screwed up. While im there talking to the guy, he tells me that the generator is not wired to its full potential and that he can make it a 12kw generator rather then a 3kw just by changing some of the wireing.
Anyone ever...
well, i think since i have the original VR, and it obviously wasnt the problem, i think im going to put it back on and see what happens.... ive already fried one SX460
Well that's what I'm gonna tackle next. I finally downloaded the correct manual that shows that stuff. The one I had was the operators manual. I think I can go in from the end and take them out. I'll let u know Sunday!
wow ok. i already have the SX 460. sounds like i have a job to do in the morning. if its not the VR then ill find out after the upgrade. ill take pics and post my progress as i go along.
once again, thanks for all the help
well, i have proven that im an idiot when it comes to fixing military surplus generators. has any one posted a step by step process to removing and replacing the voltage regulator on a MEP 701a/ 016b generator?
I have got lots of good info off of here, but still im not even sure what part...
Yeah. I think that box is ok. The TM I have only references that one. Not the other one. It will have to wait till I get back in town Monday. I really appreciate all the help!!
