Im going to have to do this tomorrow because it's getting late and colder in the garage. No heat supply out there. When I previously tightened the adjuster on each wheel, they seemed to be tight enough as I could not turn the wheels by hand, but I could still turn that adjuster even though I...
Yes, I turned the the adjuster wheel on all 4 brake shoes and backed off 5 clicks. All 4 wheel are on jack stands. I braced the brake pedal in the applied move so the brake lights were on. I could still turn each wheel by hand. That's where I am stumped
. Should I replace brake drums...
Hi everyone. Thank you for all your valuable information. I did manage to get the brakes bled (two person ). With the new wheel cylinders bled and the brake pedal set where it should be, I am experiencing another problem. Test driving and pushing in the clutch and applying the brakes, my...
Bleeding the brakes using the brake pedal pumping action was the only way I was taught, kinda threw me off.
. Did not sound right to me. Just asking to double check. Oh, and by the way, when I was a young kid, I worked at a gas station, and did have a lady that would come in after winter to...
I went on line looking for diagrams showing wheel cylinders and brake lines, because I was getting ready to fill master cylinder and bleed brakes. I asked how I could do this by myself (bleed the brakes). That's the only answer I got.
I just replaced the master cylinder and wheel cylinders on my 1967 M151A1. I was recently told that I could not bleed the wheel cylinders by pumping the brake pedal (because it would destroy the rubber in the new cylinder's). How else would I bleed the brake system?
Same thing happened to my 1009 a couple or more years ago. Went to start engine, the relay went crazy. Burned out solenoid, starter, wiring on fire wall. Happened so fast I did not have time to disconnect batteries. I did the dog bone and mounted a quick cutoff switch to the batteries...
Yes, I have all the diagrams and schematics. I can't get under the hood to do most of the testing with an OHM meter, test light, etc. because I am not agile as I used to be. Not getting any younger. Most of what I can do leads me to the same conclusion that the problem is the glow plug...
I was talking to a guy that worked as a mechanic at a local chevy dealership when the army reserve and guard unit here in the Niagara Falls area had the CUCV series in inventory. Because they were under factory warranty, the local chevy dealer got all the repair work. He stopped by a couple...
This is a problem continued since last fall. Since the weather here in WNY has got warmer, I have re-started looking for the cause as to why my 1009 won't start. I let the plugs cycle 2 times (sometime 3 times) before starting. No luck. But, I sprayed some WD40 along with some starting fluid...
Never mind, you are talking about the fuel solenoid which the pink wire goes to. Easy to replace? Now that it's getting colder out, I look forward to get under the hood.
This what happened to me in the past. Engine would crank and start and I would be able to drive and shut down. Did a couple times a day when going to an event. Seems like as long as the engine was still warm, no problem starting. Once it sat for the night, it won't start next day. It did...
Okay, so now I know what to do. Much appreciated. First off, I will disconnect pink wire and and turn ignition on till WAIT light comes on and see if I have a spark from the pink wire. I will put it aside so that I can crank the engine a few times holding the fuel pedal down to get all the...
