Hi Gents, well the recovery went pretty well. I hooked up the truck with two freshly charged new batteries, but she wouldn't turn over all the way. Luckily I brought two more just in case and with all four she fired right up.
She's got a decent diesel leak I think from the injection pump...
Hi gents. I went last week to do a pre recovery inspection on my latest addition to the family--a M923 and the batteries were so dead we couldn't even jump it. All it would do was click when we turned the ignition.
So I need some new batteries... My questions is since the two of the four are...
Hi NDT, I was thinking heavy haulers--I never considered driving it... but that's not a bad idea.
I guess to drive it, I'd need insurance. Do you have any suggestions on a insurance company that's not afraid to do 5-tons?
Thanks a lot.
Sorry for the misfire.
I've got a M923 that needs to go from Ft Polk to Conroe TX--should be an easy 170 miles or so. Would like to do it the first week of Jan if EUC clears. Anybody out there got any referrals?
Thanks tons.
Hi All,
I got to play with the trucks last weekend finally. Put new batteries in the older one and and she fired right up. Then I moved them over to the winch truck and she still just thuds... like the solenoid is slamming but nothing happens. Engine doesn't turn over all.
So I pull...
Thanks guys--I really appreciate it. I assume it won't be any problem behind a M818 or M931? That's what I'm planning on running it behind. I just have a feeling I'm going to end of with the trailer before the truck and will have to pick it up with my buddy's civy rig.
Thanks again and have...
Hi Everyone,
I'm thinking about picking up a M872--the big ass flatbed trailer with three axles. Anybody have any idea if the military harness for the lights will work with a civilian semi tractor? I think I'm good on the air...
Anything else I need to worry about?
Thanks a lot.
I had the same issue and looked at replacing the rear main seal. Then I bought some Lucas oil stop leak (the stuff is like maple syrup). I put that in and ran it for about 20 miles--never leaked again--I was amazed.
Hi MWMULES, well kind of...
I pulled out the injectors and everything was fine--no water in the cylinders. So I decided the issue was bad starters--I figured since I didn't put the fording plug in the bell housing that water got in them from all of the mud bogging--which we had been doing a...
Hey Gents,
Thanks for writing back--I've been without internet for a few weeks.
Do you think I should take the whole starter assembly off to inspect it or try to monkey with it on the truck?
I've got three weeks before I'm back on the farm, but I'll try then.
Thanks again for all of the...
Well, it was definitely very muddy and wet. So there's a good chance the starters got pretty wet, but I thought they could handle a good amount of water? And, they do make a thud sound like they're trying to turn but can't. So it doesn't seem like they are the likely culprit but I'm also...
Hey Gents,
I thought I'd continue a previous thread in a new one--for reference sake, it was titled "Don't Let Your Brother in Law Drive Your Deuce".
Here's the situation...
Three weeks ago my in-laws had a big mudding party in Texas. I had both of my deuces there and drove them hard--lots...
