After Moab it was time to head to Boise ID to visit a buddy who's in the USAF. Went through Salt Lake City and stopped in at the Hill Aerospace Museum. Fantastic display of warbirds and plenty of aircraft on static display both inside and out. Ended up stopping in Twin Falls ID for the night...
Earlier this summer I had done a test run of about 30 hours from Edmonton to Winnipeg, mostly to visit family but it gave me a chance to check the M1009 for any issues. Noticed a couple and fixed the balljoints, tie rod ends, adjusted the steering gear (which is probably too worn anyhow) and...
Haven't done all too much lately on the M1009. Had the starter give out on me around Christmas so I was without it for about 4 weeks. Now I've learned that a local auto electric shop can get 28MT's for $200 CAD... Good to know for my spare one. Planning on getting spare alternator as well. Need...
Haven't done a whole lot to the M1009 as of lately. Fixed my drivers side turn signal socket, installed 60g AC-Delco glowplugs in the Timmies parking lot, encountered a fuel leak from what was the return line and got it fixed. Added a couple markings to the side of the unit, which I did a...
Thank's for that tidbit of information, I've been trying to let it sit out in the sun thinking that'll bake the paint nice and hard. Looks like I'll keep leaving it in the shed. I've noticed that there's dust on the tailgate just from the gravel road but it certainly doesn't look like it's...
It's the Behr Marquee paint that I've been reading about here. I did all my painting outside, application was with a paint gun (which is probably why it's very rough due to my amateurish skills) And I let it sit about a week before I took it for a drive, I'm still quite weary of letting rain...
Seemed like nothing was getting stuck to it but the real enemy is water from what I've read. Since it's so soft it'll scratch easily too so I'm curious on how itll be in a couple of weeks. I've put the brown on the sides so next is the roof and then I'll do the black.
I have no idea yet, apparently it takes a long time to fully cure. It seems quite soft so far. And I did as many others did and just applied over prexisting CARC and on areas with bare metal self etching primer. Trial run I suppose.
Exactly, drove 15km with it out and blew diff fluid all over the tailgate and window. Diff seems fine but I may have overheated the wheel bearing on the passenger side hence the leak in the seal possibly. Drove 2600km+ so I would assume nothing major occurred since that incident.
Finished a 26 hour road trip. Came up with a list of items to work on for the summer.
Begin surface rust repair and sections for paint.
Change out rear axle seals and wheel bearings possibly axle shafts
Pack front wheel bearings
Install new locking hubs
Fix driver side turn signal socket (slow...
My plan so far is to leave around 7:00am July 6th and taking the number 1 to Regina. I'd be happy to stop by for a bit and visit. I'll keep you posted!
The crew cab was an ex local fire truck which before that I believe was even an ex hydro truck. While I do certainly enjoy YWG spotting, mine stems from watching aircraft over at the CYWG airport  Youtube has certainly been of great assistance to myself for a little more visual how to, but...
Will do, want to head down there for the Southern 500 September long but we'll see if that plan lasts. And different rims eh? Wider I'm assuming? Unfortunately I don't have stock rims although the current ones one there don't look too bad at least in my opinion.
Thanks folks. Was told it has a 4" lift so I'm looking purchasing some 33" tires after I wear the current 31's down a bit, maybe after my tentative trip down to South Carolina if the truck is still mechanically sound. But I'll test it on a 26 hour trip to Alberta first. And the K30 is my dads...
