So today I applied 24 volts to the f1 and f2 points on the VR. When I do this my Hertz meter pins to the maximum, then when I take the 24 volts off its goes completely dead again. Also my AC volts bounce between 0-10. Any ideas?
Guyfang, thanks for that. There's no way ill be able to perform those procedures. I don't think I've ever taken anything apart and put it pack together right. I might just bite the bullet and buy a different unit.
Hello again members. My mep701a has been sitting in the yard for the last year and a half. Runs and starts great still no power. New voltage regulator all hooked up, wires in the right spot, tried flashing the voltage regulator and still nothing. voltage regulator measured out about 16.5 volts...
Guyfang, I looked over the 3 wires that are hooked to the voltage regulator itself, I saw the red and white wires were good but black one was in C4 not C6.
I'm going to check out that part in the manual now. I started up the genset, I'm making 20 volts, about 55.5 Hertz but what's weird is I'm pulling a 15-20 load on the meter when nothing's plugged in.
Hello again Gentlemen. Im packing the truck and heading upstate for a 4 day weekend. Was hoping to get some of your guys help again with the gen set. So far I changed the voltage regulator which led to me getting the Hertz meter to float between 56-57. It was previously dead on 55 before the VR...
I had to start my 5 hour trip home so I'm not in front of the generator anymore. Those 3 wires were the first I hooked up because they were the easiest. I'm almost positive all my wires are hooked up correctly , I thoroughly labeled them and put them right back in the same spot. I'll have to...
Yes, I hooked up those 3 wires in the exact same spot the previous VR had them in. So even though it's the same VR as my old one it needs to be hooked up different?
Could you possible explain how to do this? Or is it something I can read in the TM? I'm trying to do as much reading of the TM as possible. I noticed the Hertz meter fluttering now, with the old one it wasnt doing that.
Could you guys tell me if I ordered the right glow plug please. I thought I read up on it enough to make the decision but when it came in the package says 12 volt and I know my generator is 24 volt. The glow plug has AC-19G ingraved into it and the part number on the bag is 333-0242
Thank you guys for all your help. I have ordered the VR, seems like I got a good deal at $135. I will try and flash the field before I swap it out just in case. I will post back next weekend after I work on the generator.
My generator does ALOT of idling, right now we're building the cabin so at most I run an air compressor and circular saw at the same time. I have not looked at the generator yet it is 5hrs/320 miles away at my cabin. I think I might go ahead and order the voltage regulator, if it turns out not...
If it turns out to be the voltage regulator , is it hard to swap a new one in? Would a specialist be needed? Or is this something my brother in law with 15 plus years as a union electrician could handle?
Yes the circuit breaker was still in the up position. I have the TM and I've read the troubleshooting diagram. Schematics and multimeters are no problem. 5-10 minutes before the lights went out my mother was using a electric Coleman grill and I was using a circle saw. When the power cut off I...
