I prefer to unbond at the ground then wrap up the unused wire and safely zip tie it away. I cant imagine why what you described is happening. The only thing I can think of, is your breaking a ground connection to something that is needing it, so it was backfeeding. Disconnect it at the ground...
The TM wants you to put it on a pump bench and set the droop via fuel volume (mm3)
(j) Perform speed droop adjustment as follows: (See table 3-1.)
1. At 900 rpm and wide open throttle, adjust high idle screw temporarily for 15-20 mm3 delivery per
stroke.
2. Raise pump speed to 927 rpm and turn...
Compare the AC voltage between the 002/003 style and the 017 style. the 017 have a bigger stator but very similar. If the AC voltage in is roughly the same it should work fine.
The military practically runs on 3-phase. Anything 'militarized'. Any civilian equipment is typically 120v (laptops, battery chargers, smart boards, etc). All your portable field equipment is 3-phase.
Can you take some pictures and post a diagram of the current VR? Yours is a oddbal prototype Mep-004 or something. A mep-004 regulator might get the job done.
Ithink Jesusgatos (Jesse) has been having alternator issues on multiple 5tons. Try to PM him and see if he came up with a fix.
I see your in socal, you may already know this then so sorry if you do
You definatly want to keep your up and down speed fairly quick to avoid over honing in any one spot. Alternatively if you get bored of this your machinist will probably do it for $10 a hole or so.
Lookin good. Watch your lint with paper products. Cotton tshirt scraps or Kimtech wipes (amazon!) are perfect for bores and bearings.
Primer held up well. Kind of nice, you will be able to assemble it and shoot some paint at it without doing any more metal prep.
