    Hmmwv springs

My 998 was sagging and leaning about an inch to starboard. I installed a new set of the snow plow rated springs and it lifted the front up about two inches and leveled the list. It also leveled it front to rear. Ride is great and I run 35 and 40 psi on the tires. Hard to see in the pics.

What have you done to your HMMWV today/lately

Installed some reverse lights. I found those surface mount brackets that offer a little more protection to the light fixture. I’m keeping it all old school on the lights to keep it period correct. I got the switch but still have to wire them up.

Mystery Dash Switch in 1986 M998

So, the thought of paying $650 for the fording exhaust pipe is more than I want in o spend. So for a $ 52 piece of pipe and two cans of header paint in flat black I made my own. I’m going to have someone roll me a piece of expanded metal for the guard.

What have you done to your HMMWV today/lately

You come out of one of the three crew plugs at the top of the am1780 and there’s a special cable made for the adaptation and the cable is marked “ speaker end “ so it’s going in the right direction. So I just ran one cable to the rear intercom sets and daisy chained to the other rear.

So I’ve installed a winch on the front. It’s the early plate with the built in hawse fairlead. I installed a roller instead but I’m not sure. Also finished my intercom and radio setup.

    Fog light indicator

So I saw this fog light indicator on the web and I can’t find a pic showing where it mounts in a Hmmwv. Or maybe it’s not even for a Hmmwv? But I bought it anyway. It has numbered wires of 57 for the small plug and I believe 414 for the large. It’s the same housing as the brake and bright light...

What have you done to your HMMWV today/lately

So everything was going great. The new engine was in, the trans was hooked up, and all harness ends and hoses were connected. Turned it over to see if I had the starter wired right and it started. I shut it off right away because I had to install the fuel lift pump. And as I was tightening the...

Oh by the way, the big chrome thing on the intake is an old half moon hub cap. Keeps the rain out.

When I removed the surge tank I have a line with maybe a filter on the end of it. Where does it go from there? Thanks

Well it’s a lot easier to remove than put back in. But I’m pulling the trans with the engine so if I can get to the wires I’ll leave it on.
