Clutch grabs, releases, grabs, releases when engaging. Hydraulic clutch modification?

Best go ahead and replace the clutch. Flywheel likely will need resurfacing at that time. Hydraulic clutch won't help your difficulty.

    Split Ring Horror??

Lock ring wheels are quite safe if proper procedures are followed. They are made to be soldier proof.

    Master Cylinder Bad?

I got my brake assembly lubricant from Euromotor Electric.

    Master Cylinder Bad?

Check to be sure the tiny hole toward the rear of the master cylinder is not blocked. May have to use a bent wire to check.

In tank fuel pump substitute for M35

Pull the pump out of the tank. Sometimes screens clog, rivets get loose, connecter hose rots, probably other things I don't know about.

In tank fuel pump substitute for M35

Of course one could clean the fuel tank every 10 or 20 years. Some of those pumps can be resurrected.

    Finally bought a M37!

I would try to fix the original tank. It's a pain to fit something else and have the filler neck and fuel gauge work out.

    Finally bought a M37!

I would try it. It's a bypass filter, not much pressure. If you are a worrier, give it a skim coat of slow setting JB Weld.

M37 engine rebuild initial start with oil leak

A job well done in the end. Good write up.

    Purchasing my first Deuce

I echo the above posts. Make very sure the brakes are good. Also check the parking brake function. Allow plenty of stopping distance when driving. They are good trucks, just have some age on them, like lots of us.

Questions about my m54 5 ton.

Your clutch may be just stuck from rust. I advise selling the truck and buying something better suited for your purposes.

Jeepsinker has youtube videos about his 6bt engine swap. The man has good skills. See "tactical repair " on youtube.

There is stuff sold where auto body shop supplies are sold for surface prep. The previous suggestions should work fine.

VFD M35A2c returning to Texas Forest Service

The M35 didn't go to auction. It got transferred to the Berclair VFD. They picked it up this afternoon. Cranked up immediately and after warming up, it left in a puff of soot and a whine of turbo. Went down the road in good for. They got a good truck.

VFD M35A2c returning to Texas Forest Service

That is one of the reasons the M35 is going away. I think it drives just fine, just sluggish due to the weight of fire fighting equipment.
