    Using thicker oil

I suggest using 40wt diesel oil AFTER you check oil pump and relief valve. Oil analysis is a good idea for longer term information.

Piston pin fit. How tight is too tight.

Try warming the pistons in a hot water bath. The pins should go in without undue force.

    How to fireproof magnesium parts?

Thanks for the EV fire information. I'll pass it on at the next VFD meeting.

    Steering wheel chain

I'd leave it and kick the chain under the seat when driving. Use it for parking to keep the pinheads away. Get 3 keyed alike padlocks. Use one for the steering wheel, one for the spare tire carrier, and the last on the hood chain if you have such.

    10 Ton M123 Line Up

Wow, a serious big iron collector!

    Cooling System Mystery

I guess that old 2 part cooling system flush isn't around any more. I cleaned a lot of rusty mud out of my M37 cooling system when I got it home.

    Cooling System Mystery

I suggest removing a core plug in the block you can get to. It would be informative to see what has settled there.

    Deuce Master Cylinder

How about you drill and tap the plastic cap for a vent?

    MEP-803a success story

You made a good score. Good write up and photos.

    M37 fuel tank

I had excellent results with KBS brand coatings. It sets up and stays somewhat flexible as not to flake off.

    M37 fuel tank

A little flash rust is fine. You can use Ospho or similar on it for a protective coating. Then use your tank coating as per instructions.

    Air horn setup?

I love that sound! Very effective for alerting distracted drivers. May cause them to drop their cell phones.

    M139 Gasser engine or multi-fuel?

That's kind of a rarity. Bridge truck?

Will start only with a squirt of starting fluid. Runs great once started.

Ford 6.9 and 7.3 IDI diesels run great ATF. Cummins 5.9s do as well.

    Is this wheel unusable?

No, I can rarely hear it. Cold clear winter nights I can hear a little engine noise. Those engines are really old but still running.

    My first multifuel?

You are doing a wonderful job. I loved your gear lube pump. Saves a lot of frustration.

    Is this wheel unusable?

I remember that. Those were the days in Austin when you could get to work in 5minutes. Later, I sure enough got out.

    What fluid goes here?

You can download the -10 operator's manual on this site. It will help you a lot.

    M813 Seized Engine

You can download manuals for your truck on this site. Good references with pictures.

    M880 truck

Our Volunteer Fire Department had one for 2 or so years. It was rust proofed in the ZBart style with the plastic plugs in the usual places. It came from one of the defense reutilization yards. No rust on the truck.
