Sorry about your bad luck, Greg. You might consider Linux for a computer that you rely on.

I tried Linux once. I just could not get the hang of it. I'm so used to Windows I cannot get my head around another form. In fact I bought Windows 8 but went back to Windows 7 since I couldn't work with 8.

I wish I had talked with you last week ! Last night I did go into Safe Mode and ran my anti-virus programs. I was at last able to rid myself of that horrible virus ! Now tonight after using system restore I'm up and running again !
I really need to learn how to partition my harddrive like you mentioned and create a separate back-up.
Is there some tutorial on making a "full disc image" ?

The below links should get you started. Just be extremely careful when partitioning, one wrong move and you could inadvertently reformat (wipe) an entire disk. I would restrict any initial partitioning effort to just your external backup-disk being careful to preserve the existing file backup partition (partitioning the free space to add another partition assuming external disk is large enough to partition effectively). Or... don't risk anything and just buy another external disk to use 100% for image backups. Backup hard drives are cheap now-a-days and they are good insurance that you will never have to pay a ransom or hire a recovery expert WHEN USED PROPERLY.

Not sure which version W7 you have, it may or may not have system image backup utility already available:

you can use it on the phase only running 2 hots not 3 hots. Thats the same as 1 phase.

R Racing is correct, the legs of three phase are 120 degrees out of phase. Single phase are 180 degrees out of phase. You need to set up the unit to run at single phase 120/240 and then check to make sure you're getting 220/240 voltage in your breaker panel across L1-L2. You need to start measuring voltages and set it up according to the book to get predictable results.

  So I figured out what I was doing wrong. I finally checked the hertz with a real gauge and I was getting around 75 at full throttle. Seemed like I had to back the throttle down quit a bit to get down to 63 H or so. To bad there's no tack.

You're very fortunate you didn't do some serious damage to your appliances. 25% high frequency, and who knows what voltage on your 220 Volts leg to leg.
