1955 GAZ 69AM Transmission Fork Installation?

I just reinstalled my GAZ engine and transmission. After getting the engine and trans bolted down I went to install my transmission Fork Handle and can not remember exactly how it went back in?? Inside the top area of the trans. I see a double hard wire type part crossing over the area where the Fork slips down and inside the trans. This hard double wire is attached to springs on one side. When I go to install the Fork handle down does it go between the wire or on one of the side of the wires. The wires are parallel with each other and appear to be narrower than the Fork handle. I believe the spring loaded wires are probably to assist in the shifting of the Fork. Any help would be appreciate. Thanks, Dennis Foster (NJ)

I am guessing the the trans is NOT synco. As I see it, those wires are there to help bring the shift rod back to natural when shifting, being they are spring loaded, I would think straight down would work, the wires would ride on the second flat spot and be able to move a bit due to the springs.

Thanks for your assistance. I went ahead and was able to install it properly. I had to turn it a little at first and than it just slipped into place. All is well. Thanks again, Dennis
