But Delvac is not in not in 10w40.

It’s 15w-40

If you look at the regular 10w-40 on the back label, it will say it’s fine to use in diesels.

I use the Delvac in all my Diesels year around and have never had any issues.

Ironically, I use Rotella “diesel” motor oil in all my gasoline 4 cycle small engines.
Zero issues.

Just throwing this in ... don't confuse those terms with their english language meanings. By law, partial synthetics are sold as "full" synthetics; "partial" is not a thing on oil labels; but, "blended" represents an oil with a little syntjetic blended in.

Actual english language full synthetics are available and pricey from Amsoil and Redline. I only know one diesel on a full synthetic diet; my deuce.5 gets Rotella T6 15w40 by the pail (Amazon often has a seller offering the 5gal pails under $200).

You are 100% correct on USA marketing. This is why Mobil has the FS line, and others have a Euro line. You will see "FS" on the from of the bottle. All others are blends.

Ill check it out on the bottle of 10w40. I noted that on the Mobil site. 10w40 is a great all aorund choice, no matter what they say today with their 0w8,16 BS.
I have ran 5w40 "synthetic diesel oil in everything for years aswell. Recently i found a great deal @ Rural king.


over the years i have ran Napa or Valvoline Premium Blue, but thinking on switching to that brand. Oils are so good today, it is hard to go wrong.


M1 0w40 FS is CF rated aswell, you might check it out.

There has been a division of diesel oils recently. There is a 10w30 intended for newer engines and a 0/15w40 intended for older engines. I use Chevron products for fleet reasons so I'm most familiar with their lineup. Delo 400 no longer exists there is Delo SDE and Deko XDE. On oil analysis we see a decline in zinc and an increase in boron and calcium. In use we have never seen lubrication issues in the past and we don't see lubrication issues today. All of our issues are on the coolant side.

Oil has more to do with the sum of its parts, than just one or two components. Todays oil has less detergency that competes less with the anti wear components, therefore, the antiwear items can be less ppm, and do more.
