Hello, I have a 1984 M1031 (Chevy 1ton dually 6.2 diesel). Can someone give me direction on how to do the starter relay modification? Also, does anyone have any ideas on an upgrade or modification to get the top speed improved from 55mph. Trans swap to get 4 gears? What have other people done? Thank you,

Have you downloaded all of the TM's yet? They are an incredible resource for most of your questions. If you use the search function, there are probably many older posts that cover the starter relay modification (Search for Dog head mod). There is also a whole forum on modifications for CUCV vehicles and the whole increasing speed has been covered. There is an incredible amount of knowledge on this forum, and they will definitely help through all your questions, but the TM's will answer many of those before you even ask them. Good luck and welcome to SS

Thank you for the direction. I have started searching and did find the doghead mod, which will be my first upgrade. I will look into the TMs next. I appreciate the help and the welcome!

37s will get you to 65mph with more comfort but will be miserable to drive with. There is no way around it, the TH400 sucks in everything but strength and simplicity.

4L80 is an easy swap, will make the underpowered 6.2 accelerate better, and getting your cruise RPM down.

I had 37s for years and I wish I did the 4L80 sooner.
