I'm planning on the hill above the shelter, plenty close enough. Nice flat spot up there for my large stuff.
Steel Soldiers now has a few new forums, read more about it at: New Munitions Forums!
Nope, that's Stonepicker1.I thought you were going to columbus(lockborne) first?
229 looks more direct but it becomes a winding hilltop road with a steep or sorta steep downhill as it get close to metamora. I prefer going through Brookville.Nope, that's Stonepicker1.
I'm coming straight to Haspin and was wondering about the best way there.
Is sparkys generator going to run all night? If so, I may bring a fan and earplugs. And this is why it pays to be sparkys freind. He will keep the lights on and I'll bring the recovery gear.
I will have anther 200' of cord for my camp to run our fans to keep us cool at night.
Thanks Dan, that's what I needed to know.229 looks more direct but it becomes a winding hilltop road with a steep or sorta steep downhill as it get close to metamora. I prefer going through Brookville.
It might. It eats about 1.4gal per hour tho and is loud.Is sparkys generator going to run all night? If so, I may bring a fan and earplugs.
Trust me, Your GPS has the better route. Even with 52 being a US hiway, it still has some hoop de dos that you have to be careful on. Maybe you will run up on our convoy- we plan to arrive at Haspin on Wednesday. We will be taking that exact route north of Knoxville. Some advice for the guy coming from Florida.
GPS has me leaving I-75 N onto the I-275, W on I-74, then taking 52 thru Brookville, then N on 121 to Laurel.
Looking at the map, would staying on I-74 W to the Batesville area, north on 229 thru Oldenburg to 52, then 121 to Laurel be a better route?
I'll be in a one ton pickup pulling a goose neck trailer with a 205 shelter and a M1009 on it. I'd be thankful for any local advice.
Rick
Alright John, according to google map using the 229 route is 10 mins and 8 miles longer. You are correct about the twist and turns enroute but i still feel that rt52 is more friendly for larger vehicles.Trust me, Your GPS has the better route. Might cause issues. Inside the fence is supposed to be quiet after 12 midnight. Some folks were sent back to Chicago one year for running the genny all night. It might. It eats about 1.4gal per hour tho and is loud.

YOU PEOPLE MAKE ME SICK!!! with all this talk about setting up camp and getting ready for Haspin.
