24-12v converter. Am I going about this right?

Installed a 24v converter. Plan to connect to the positive and negative battery terminals to converter then to a blue sea fuse box. The Blue Sea (photo below) does not have a negative connection so I will run the negative to the stud on the engine or can also run to the negative lug in the batter compartment.

The only issue I can see is having to run each item to the negative on the engine instead of buying a fuse box that already has a negative bus.

I purchased this setup before I knew I could run everything off the 12v side of the alternator and I haven’t researched that option.

Any opinions, warnings or suggestions are welcome.🙏

As long as you have the 200 or 400 amp dual voltage alternator, you can pull 12v off it.
I installed a 200 after already installing a Victron 24 to 12v inverter, so just grounded the 12v feed of the alternator out.

For your 12v accessories, you can run a single 12v- to a small bus bar near your accessories to pull negative from. Or you could swap out your current Blue Sea fuse block for one like the picture attached, which has + and -.

Pictures attached are of the fuse block I use (+-), as well as a dual bus bar as well as a single bus bar.

With bus bars, you have to be careful of exposed + voltage accidentally shorting to the body in high traffic areas.

I do not see a 24V-12V converter only a fuse panel, what alternator do you have and how many amps at 12V do you expect to pull?

I did get a blue sea with ground. Everything works great. Was in a hurry so will use the 24-12 now and maybe switch to the 12v side of alternator later. Thank you all!👍
