Hello Team,
Any of you interested in showing off your green or tan iron are welcome at the Centralia WA Summerfest event on 4 JULY. We will meet at Borst Park, just off exit 82 on I-5 at about 0800. They have a really nice community breakfast and then we will get set up for our display starting at 0900. Any era display would be okay. at 1230 we will break down and head to my house for lunch. About 1500 we will go line up for the annual parade. We have had about 12 to 15 vehicles the last two years and have taken top honors for Historic entry. After the parade, everyone can head for home and take in their local events.

Questions? Please send me a note of give a call. Peter 360 870 0706

Its getting closer. Thank you for all the responses.
It is okay if the LCI comes, but we may be a bit too far inland.:-D But am trying to get the PBR guys to bring a boat (on a trailer).

Will do. I got new camera so have to learn the ins and outs of posting and downloading with it. Haven't taken the time to figure it out yet. Have quite a few pictures from Normandie, that I will need to get up. It wasn't quite as busy this year as at the 70th, but there were still quite a few neat things to see.

They have two PBR's. The Navy one is at the Portland Rose Festival, on the water this weekend. You might look up NW Chapter of the Gamewardens of Vietnam. Certainly someone online will have pictures of that. The Army boat, the last one produced, is in the restoration process and most of the controls and both engines are out of it at this time. They want to add a third axle to the trailer that it is sitting on now. I am hoping that they will let us get the paint scraping and painting of the inside of the hull done before they start going gangbusters on putting stuff back in.

Just put in parade registration. They do have a theme this year, Remember Pearl Harbor, 75th anniversary. They also have a requirement for all vehicles to sport a US flag. They don't say anything about size. Those with WW2 vehicles, try to do something towards the theme and the rest with M series, enjoy the parade.
Sounds like we may have a dozen to fifteen vehicles. Everything from WW2 jeeps to 900 series 5 tons. After lunch we will line up by age of vehicle and head over to the parade line up area.
I also put a question in to them as to which way the parade is starting out this year. Last year they said it was headed west to start, so we pre-planned our route to come in to the west and they had everyone lined up east. Talk about fun, trying to turn a column of 12 - 14 vehicles around on city streets with eveything closed off for the parade. We will try to avoid that this year.

Isalandr, how many in your crew?

Anyone else, if you haven't already gotten in touch with me about attending, please do, with numbers so we can plan for food.
Thank you. Looks like this one is shaping up to have quite a few 5 tons.

So far if weather holds, we have about 35 people signed up and around 16 vehicles. Please send me a note or call if you would like to attend. We have probably been doing this around 15 years now.

Myself and the missus for sure, not sure on the rest. Last year it was just one extra, we were hoping for a full truck this year, five or six, but probably only three or four. As soon as I have a firm number, I'll let you know for sure.

Also, let us know what we can bring to contribute to the feast and festivities.

It's kind of short notice, but I'll see what I can do to affix a flag to the beast before we unleash it.

I have a few small flags that we could probably zip tie one to your mirror frame. My wife and I will take care of the hamburgers and hotdogs, we will have some pop and water as well. Maybe veggie tray or fruit tray. Whatever you do, I don't think anyone will starve.

Also I hadn't mentioned this before, but we have been doing this for around 15 years and we usually try to uniform up to the period of our vehicles. Its not required, but it is an historic display and that adds to the historic nature of the event. With this years theme of 75th anniversary of Pearl Harbor, I am going with a period correct uniform as might have been seen around Pearl, during that time frame.

For those that are new, come straight in to Borst Park, the road is narrow and takes a turn to an athletic club, but you want to go straight ahead. There is a yellow gate there that is usually closed and locked when I get there, we have only been doing this same thing for years and they can't figure out to leave the gate unlocked, once through the gate, follow the road down the small hill and you will see us and we will figure out where to park you. I will try to start getting vehicles in order of age of vehicle. We are parked in an around the trees, so we have to watch for branches and top damage. When we leave we will need ground escort to help us out as there are a lot of people and small children in the area.

Usually I will be at the small gate to open it for you, or we will have someone from the group detailed to handle that. If you have questions or get lost, call me.

This is a picture from a couple years ago.

See you on the 4th. Peter 360 870 0706

That's great that you "suit up" with period correct uniforms, but you need some Navy in the mix don't you, especially being the Pearl Anniversary!

(Full disclosure: USN is all you need, not any other branch of service):naner:

We do have one or two guys that do Navy, but unfortunately they won't be there that day. There was an article this week about our counties last Pearl Harbor survivor and he was Navy, he was with the PBY squadron on Ford Island. They got their planes off between waves and didn't lose an aircraft or man that day. But he did lose friends.
