5 ton dump pto question

does the pto in a 5 ton dump face forward or backwards or is it a double flanged pto? Looking at a 5 ton dump that has had the bed removed as a bobber project and was wondering if the pto that is in it would be applicable for using a winch on the front. thanks Snakeater

My 5 ton dumper has a double ended pto.
the front has the standard bidirectional shaft for the front winch and then ther is a backpack added to the rear of the pto for running the pump. and this one only turns one direction.

Yup, doubleended PTO whether winch equipped or not.

5-ton dump PTO

Are your trucks multifuels? I have three M-817 Cummins 5-ton dumps and they don't have PTO's. The hydraulic pump is built into the motor. Maybe they are newer than yours?

I have a friend with 3 817's and his have pumps and PTO's. They had to reseal a pump on one.

I remember the pumps for the hyd dump cyl on the 809's being on the back of the transfer case like the wreckers. maybe I'm wrong.
