5 Ton Rims and Tires

Recently I picked up a set of 16.00r20 Michelin XL's to mount on my truck. I have these aluminum rims for the tires to be mounted to. The tires came with tubes and liners. Due to the type of rims I believe I should be getting a beadlock and setting the tubes and liners aside. I was hoping someone here will be able to tell me what size nut (5/8 x ...) I need to bolt the rims together and where to find them. I also believe that I need to change out the wheel studs to fit the thicker centers of the aluminum rims. Any help is appreciated as I'm still new to military parts. Use search term “caiman” for info about studs for those wheels, that is the MRAP they came off.

Okay, Caiman’s are they type for the rims, and thanks gringeltaube for the link to those nuts. Should I be looking at getting rubber bead locks to replace the tubes in the tires, or would I be better off running the tubes instead?

You can not run tubes with those wheels.

You do not need beadlocks unless you are planning on airing them down

That’s what I was thinking but the guy I got the tires from said they had to be run with tubes, and I live an hour from the sand dunes so I might be airing down the tires if I brought the truck there

Well they are beadlock type wheels for a reason. Not to be used with tubes.

Since starting this thread I have been able to acquire the wheel lock nuts, the o-rings and new valve stems. I’m currently finding a set of metal bead locks before I get started piecing everything together. I’ve been looking over the sight to find the torque for the wheel lock nuts and have seen 162ftlbs and 450ftlbs. Due to the variance I was hoping someone on here would know the spec. I have the 5/8 diameter studs. I know the 450ftlbs guy had 3/4 studs.

Whole lot easier to put beadlocks in now, just in case. Dont have to, but can’t think of many reasons not to, and can think of quite a few reasons to install them.
