This is a hoot, a 1981 6.2L training video, actually more like a "familiarization" video, I remember these coming out, once a week we would sit and watch these, VHS was just really taking off about then, before that we would need a projector.
Interesting about the timing marks, we treated the 5.7L the same way, they were run in on a dyno at the factory and would be "optimized" before installation.
Only we made matching marks with a small chisel as the paint would have likely be removed by the re-builder, back then every town had a injection shop.
I worked for a Cadillac/Olds/GMC dealer, man I can still remember the verbal fights in the service managers office when a relatively new Cadillac/Olds owner was told the IP was not covered by warranty because of rust in the IP, after all GM did not put the water in the fuel.
When the guy says "other diesel engines" he is talking about the 5.7L series of engines which were patterned after the 5.7L Oldsmobile engine.
Many of these HD diesel blocks were converted back to gas with some machine work and some special main bearings for the gas crankshaft, would pump out mucho HP on gas!!
