725 door latches anyone?

If I'm in the wrong forum. Let me know.

Just inherited a 725. The front door handles turn but the tongue stays retracted.

Any thoughts, clues or things I should check before I start searching for replacement latches?

Retracted as in, the latch doesn't come out of the door to stay closed? I would spray lots of lube all over everything and see if you can free it up. I have a 725 also, post up some pics!

If it turns out the spring is shot in each door handle, perhaps you can use M-37 door handles as a replacement, they are very similar.

Yes, try to get inside the inner door panel and spray WD40 or lube of your choice in there. There isn't much stopping the rain water going down the window in to the regulator or handle mechanisms.

O.K. I'll remove the inner door panels and go batsnit crazy with a big can of WD 40.

take the assy's out of the door,clean everything real good the lube it properly. they will be fine.
