You can normally get some kind of description by plugging in the NSN in your browser. There are any number of company's who sell surplus, and they have a copy of FEDLOG. Using FEDLOG will give you much info about a NSN or part number. Normal people don't have FEDLOG. The gov, or company's can buy a modified copy, when they sell parts, or company's that contract for the gov.

Found a gauge by the NSN number for $16.00 bucks, thanks Guyfang and Dav5 for the search help. Got the new gauge in and installed and I still had a problem. I removed the fuel sender and cleaned it up a reinstalled it and presto everything is working. Thanks to everyone here for the help!

Well I bought/ordered a gage from the same seller without a dent. Seller revised the photo on EBay after the purchase with a photo of a dented one. I just had someone open the package in Miami (I'm out of town), expecting to see a dented fuel gage. Turns out he sent me another completely different gage all scratched up.
