818 To Be Crushed

I was in Little Rock (Camp Robinson) today picking up a couple of M105s and asked about an M818 that was coming up for auction. The GL guy let me know it had been turned in as B or Q so he was going to have to watch it be crushed!!! This is a truck with less than 8k miles on it; it was never issued to a unit, just used in the yard. It is as near to mint as I have ever seen, it even has an insulated fiberglass top on it. I intend calling the camp commander tomorrow to see if he can do anything prior to my calling my congressman, I know nothing will probably help, but I am tired of seeing this happen. I was down at Hooks two weeks ago and asked about thirty or so lubrication trailers they had, same thing scraping the lot! Not one minute on the compressors, all the kit is still in the cardboard boxes! Ignorance is one thing but this insanity is starting to get to me.

The funniest thing is....is our GENIUS govt will ship a rusted out deuce from Maine to California, only to sell it for $500.

Me too. The question is, is it "B" or "Q" classification. Don't remember which is which but one means all you have to do is fill out a EUC (as most trucks are). The other is munitions and has to be destroyed.

I don't really think the MVPA has the time to bothered with their members problems. They are to busy fighting umongst themselves to help us.
