'86 M998 No Wait Light, Nothing

Before you come in hot, eager to tell me to read all the other threads on this, read the next sentence.

The ignition on the 1986 M998 was left on for a week, and now there's absolutely nothing when I turn the ignition on.

YES: I charged the batteries subsequent to that debacle.

I installed new glow plugs.

I changed out the TSU

The other threads I read seemed to either have no discernible root cause, or a myriad of issues. My question is, what is most likely to get fried if a dumbass leaves the ignition on for 7 days?

Do the headlights work?
Did you disconnect the batteries while charging them?
Randomly replacing parts is a poor way to fix an issue, you will learn much more by actually troubleshooting the system.

I don’t know enough about the smart box to know, but leaving the ignition switch in run should not fry it I wouldn’t think. It sits in run while running, so worst case scenario it ran your batteries down.

Now it’s possible you fried something charging your batteries, but if not, there may be some other issue that fried it, so I would try and figure out exactly what is going on before slapping a new box in there and either frying another one or maybe that not even being the issue?

I wish I could help more than that, but I am wary of the idea of leaving it in run frying it. I say this because I left mine on and drained my battery only to jumpstart it and all was fine.

The reasnon I asked if the headlights worked is because if you have NOTHING it is unlikely the EESS box.
Leaving the run switch on should not normally burn up anything.

Sometimes a relay will chatter or cycle if the voltage to the coil is low. It's a vicious cycle...relay drops out, voltage rebounds and pulls the coil back in, voltage drops, relay drops out. It could be that there was a period where the low voltage resulted in chattering and damaged a relay. I seem to recall having a start box that chattered several years ago, unfortunately I can't remember what type or what the outcome was.

What kind of box is it?

It just wants to sleep after being woke for 7 days. Jokes aside, did you check if the glow plugs are actually cycling? It could be something as little as a burnt out light bulb

Glow plugs should be replaced. PCB should be removed and converted to manual. If you don’t know how, PM me.
