A/C In a Deuce

Did it work out OK. What lessons did you learn and system used. I just bought an AMGE Deuce last week and want to drive it during the day and it is just to hot. Thanks

GO to the search - there are a couple members I believe still here with the kits available for sale of which are of the like I used to fabricate and retrofit to my friends M109A3.

On their threads for the sale of them I have add'd pictures of the system installed.
It was not a big deal for me and only time consuming - but eh - I am an idiot and there is NWH I would stick this in mine and the reason for not doing it is that is just more to go wrong.

Am I against having them - No. Its not my fortie.

Do the search under Wreckermans and 3DAngus threads - someone here smarter than I am can give you the direct links but its time to learn how to search as well.

FYI on these systems - they produce an abundance of air flow in the cab even with the ac off - they are capable of heat with the heater core in them as well - so money is not a waste on these kits as the parts are well worth the $ - its a matter of your skill to save the extra labor intense hours to install it into something it was never meant for.

It can be done - it makes the cab colder than a penguins arse sliding on ice and it heats.

If you had to pay someone to install it - I would pass and open windows and install a fan an live with it - like I do minus the fan here in Ga. Hotter the better for me.

Uhhhh, that would be a really good deal. I've sold all mine, only have one left, and would never sell it for what I sold the others. Good luck with it. You win either way. That A/C unit was brand new still in the factory crate.

You will find friends on the SS site and there will be some replies that raise the hackles a little, but its all good.

The deuce gives off a lot of its heat through the firewall from the engine. I have read some threads on SS where insulation kits or homemade insulation has helped reduce cab heat levels when combined with the cab fan idea.

I have even seen ads for templates to cut out the insulation to fit the firewall of the engine compartment. It also reduces the noise level in the cab.

Just trying to give you another avenue to follow that might help in what you are trying to achieve.

I am surprised nobody brought up the Recovry4X4 way of cooling a cab! I have used it with great success here in Florida where the humidity is the worst!
Try this, close both side windows and the rear window. Close both side vents. Open the drivers side windshield a few notches if you are by yourself or both windshields with passengers.
The in rush of air will push all the heat coming through the firewall and floor back out and keep the cab comfortable. When you stop you can roll down the side window but put it back up when moving.
My brother and I made a 1500 mile trip this time last year in my M109 and we never broke a sweat in the cab.
Give it a try, it works well even in humid Florida! :driver:

Forgot to add, it's way cheaper than AC.

I just open the passinger windshield to avoid the bugs that manage to get through. It works well.

The hardest part is mounting the compressor. the ac equipment is available either here, new or in the junkyards. Download the red dot catolog and you can se what was atdded to the older trucks and construction equipment to cool them. If you see a bank armoured car in the scrap yard there is usually a nice wall mounted unit used to head and cool the guys in the back.
