a rather weird question..the case of the missing 16mm socket

was putting new belts on my 1986 m998 the other day, and one of the bolts was a 16mm. it fell off the ratchet near the power steering pump, to never been seen again. ive spent several hours looking everywhere i can see, and no sign of this socket. it never hit the ground...

even tried the old trick of dropping another socket in the same location..both times, it landed on the ground..

anyone else had this annoying situation and if so, where did you finally find the MIA socket?

I like to use one of those automotive expanding stick magnets with a knuckle joint. I think mine is a kd or lisle tool.
Probe the general area and good luck fishing...

You will never have more fun then when repairing a Turbine Engine, for 4-6 hours, put it back together, and drop a socket in to the engine. Yes sir. Fun, fun, fun.

Go to Snap on or any other expensive tool shop, and buy the most expensive 16mm socket you can find. With in 5 minutes, the lost socket will appear.
