Standard A3 tire outside diameter is about 43". So, 43 x 3.14 (pi)=135.03" or 11.25 foot. So for every wheel revolution, the truck moves forward 11.25 feet.
Engine at 2,700 RPM and 1: 1 ratio to rear end and 6.72 rear end ratio, we get 401.78 revolutions of the wheel at 2,700 RPM.
401.25 revolutions x 11.25 feet = 4,520 feet of truck travel per minute. 4,520 feet x 60 minutes = 271,205 feet in an hour. There is 5,280 feet in a mile so,
271,205 ft divided by 5,280 feet = 51.36 MPH with our without a tail wind! Now, running with the larger 395 Goodyears at 46" diameter, the A3 can run 54.84 MPH. 46" x 3.14 =144.44 divided by 12=12.03 ft per rev x 401 revs = 4,826 foot per min x 60=289,602 divided by 5,280 ft = 54.84 MPH.
I have the big Goodyears on my A3 and typically run at 2200 RPM which puts me at 45 MPH.
The front of the A3 hood-grill is longer due to the radiator and intercooler depth.
Did the math here for others to use by simply plugging in there numbers to determine just how fast their buggys are driving.
