Hello Guys,

We're working on an M923a1 right now, and the Fan Clutch Actuator is shot. I'm running into problems finding a new one. The numbers on the side of the Actuator are:

19207-11669644
11-84
CAS190

I'm looking around trying to find one so that I can replace it, but using those numbers (11669644 seems to be the part number) I am having trouble tracking one down.

Anyone know of another number they go by, or a 5 ton whiz that I could talk to about it?

Have you looked in the TM parts manual for the correct part number?

Then the one you want is normaly open. Test the fan clutch by removing the air line that runs to it and with out air and it locks up then you will know what you need. Do believe it is 3/4 npt ask for 180*

I just repaired one last week for an A3 that is almost the same as that one. There was a tiny o-ring that was bad and was just letting air through. Unscrew the top cap. What do you have to lose?

My mechanic is going to attempt to open it up, and see if the replacing the O-rings fixes the problem. He doesn't think it will, but that's a lot better than dropping 300 on a new unit.

The truck has been giving us a lot of problems. This might be the first 5 ton we take a loss on.

This reminds me of a funny. We were having the 5-ton "before driving the truck, check these things" training and the engine was up-idled at about 1000RPM to warm it up, and the 2LT was standing right next to the thing, hood up. He was commenting how it was a lot quieter than the old 5T. His back was to the engine and he was leaning on the fender going on and on.. The fan kicked on and he jumped up about 2FT. He had never messed with a 5T except to ride in one, certainly never drove one, had no knowledge of the fan.

What ever happened to your shutter stat? Did you find a civy replacement or go with the $300 NOS one? I've been looking through lots of parts book for an equivalent replacement but have come up empty. Can you let us know what you did?

THanks,

Well I tried to repair the problem I had with my fan clutch not engaging. I took the Thermal Fan switch off and took it apart. Seemed like it lacked lubrication inside. I cleaned it and added DW40 to the parts and reassembled. After installing it back the fan now engages when it is hot. :driver:

can someone put a picture up of exactly where this goes. I have been looking to find it but don't even know what side to start on. I think this might be what is leaking down on my 5 ton. After it shuts off for a few minutes you hear this loud air release from the front of the engine, but I can't seem to find where its at. It leaks down the secondary system.
Thanks
