Hello, first post, been lurking for a while now, love the board.

Looking at getting my first (yeah, I said first) M35A2 and one has come up locally that looks like a decent one within my budget.
However, it doesn't have the winch on the nose that I'd really like to have.
Is it possible to add on at a later point (est costs etc?) or is it more feasible for me to lskip this one and ook for one with the winch already installed?

Thanks in advace for the newbie help,
Britt

First, Welcome!

you will find a wealth of information here, and plenty of us willing to help.

You can add a winch for $1000-$1500, depending on where you source your parts.

FRODO is right...you will spend an extra grand or so either now or later. Better to just buy it on the truck.

One plus to doing it later is you can add parts as you can afford it. Buy extenstions and winch, then later add the PTO/shaft/linkages.

HNDRSONJ makes a very good point...adding it later does have the benefit of not having to pay now. However, also factor in your time. It will take a full day to install a winch or a weekend if you are not really pressing to get it done. It would depend for me on the truck. I never buy a truck for the winch. I would rather have a really clean truck without a winch and add one later. However, all things being equal, I'd rather buy a truck with a winch rather than have to install one, although I have gone that route.

While I think that the prices quoted are accurate, I've always been able to scrounge up stuff cheaper over a period of time. Perhaps it's related to my scrounging skills or olfactory prowess in relation to green parts.
