Adding Acetone when burning WMO

I have read that adding a couple to a few onces of acetone will take care of any carbon issues in diesel and also in gas engines. I have been trying it in my 90 VW Jetta diesel and have found it running much cleaner, but I am only using about 10% filtered WMO.

Anyone else using Acetone for a fuel additive?

Haven't used it in a diesel. I do use it in my 93 chevy K2500. Add about 4 ounces per tank of gas(20gallons), MPG went from 13 to 15/16. Cost about 12 for a gallon, and lasts about 6 months. Didn't improve my highway MPG much, maybe 1 mpg. Truck just seems to run better now at partial throttle.

Yes use it in my 79 Celica mileage went up (about 20 ish miles more per tank) at first, probley just cleaning it out because now if I just run it every now and then the mileage dose not change. Have not tried it in the m35 but my brother in law uses it in his power stroke motored 70 and he had same results as me.

I have used laquer thinner with good results......but it sure does clean out thirty years of crud in the tank.

Acetone will swell some gasket materials, but wouldn't know what concentration is safe....

I used it in a crown vic I had. The mileage did come up about 2-4 more. 6 months later replaces all 8 injectors O rings and fuel line. Still smelt gas but could not find the leak. Then the frame broke so now its gone.
