Aftermarket hood grills

Hi everyone,

Looking for something cool to get the wife for Christmas for her HMMWV, gave her the truck last year lol. We've been through a lot in the past year with it and I have learned more than I ever cared to know about HMMWV's. None the less, she loves it and so do I, have put about 5,000 miles on it in a year. Still making upgrades, fixed all the necessaries. I was thinking of the idea of one of the aftermarket cooler looking hood grills. I remembered reading somewhere that they made the trucks run hotter, if thats even possible. We did a complete cooling system refresh with a Champion radiator and it does cycle and maintain temps perfectly in all weather, all be it in the 210-230 factory range. So, best I can tell everything is working as it should. Does anyone have any real world experience with these grills, I can deduce that the ones that would have a large design that significantly obstructs air flow would not be ideal. She loves patriotic stuff and 2a stuff, there are some cool ones out there. Just want to make sure I'm not creating a problem.

Thanks!

Brad

Why not send to a paint shoppe and get custom graphic painted on the stock grill. Safer. Then get a jeweler to put her birthstone or a diamond on a custom HMMWV key fob.

Everything I've seen has looked like it was more obstructive than less.
The factory setup blocks damn near 50% of the potential opening.
I fabbed this myself to represent my take on what looks perhaps more effective

That looks alot more effective. It's catching the air and directing it down onto the cooling stack, instead of blowing past it.

The problem was shown to me by a little Bee, I watched one (dead) bounce around for miles just to one side of the top grill, there is no air flow there.
