Hey, plowboy, you ARE going to give us a sneak peek someday aren't you.....please??!!

Most of those units are in the pictures on this thread. The only additions will be a few more oddity Iltis boys, maybe a few more LSVW camping units, one real nice Bren Gun carrier that the Reserves are trailering in...and possibly a 5 Ton from the U.S. We'll be sure to get pictures.

July 15th and 16th Alberta Rail Museum

We had a trainload of fun at the Alberta Railway Museum.

The rest of the team wheeled into the museum and we ended up with a 14 truck display for part of the day. The CCDMA team did what they do setting up a 50's Civil Defence display and running a Federal Signal Siren at 1100h, 1300h and 1500h on the first day.



One of the young engineer volunteers got us into some special places. Spending the night was just awesome so I'm thinking this might be a gig we do again next year. The museum let us use a fridge, freezer, power 15amp and a decent washroom so their hospitality was fantastic.

Lockheed Ventura twin engine bomber

This will become a road trip story shortly so I'm going to drop the info here instead of the aircraft forum. This aircraft may never fly again but it won't be for a lack of effort. The original story of this Ventura and the energy placed into preserving her so far is beyond the imagination.

Since the mayor Mandell removal of our City Center, Muni, Blatchford Field airport, our Alberta Aviation Museum has changed. They will no longer be the home of the Ventura and she is on her way out the door. Many of the parts the Ventura group has gathered, block the way out for this P&W 2800 twin engine bomber, so Bob Cat and I volunteered for the job to move them.

The encyclopedia I worked with today is Paul Squires. He is a part of the Ventura group and is mentioned in the article above. His passion for aircraft is as deep as the passion most of us express for the MV's we love. Ask Paul about the Pratt and Whitney (P&W) 2800 engine, he'll tell you one piston chamber at 1.8 liters is the same size as a small auto engine. This engine is 2800 Cubic Inches of WW11 ingenuity.....and I know most of you can hear it right now.

P&W 2800 was used in several aircraft besides the Ventura. The Corsair and the P-47 Thunderbolt are two aircraft from a large list that Paul rattled off while we carefully moved 3 of these massive engines out of the way of the hanger doors.

Last year we recovered 3 crated propellers that were going to be used as a display.....some 20 years ago. Today I got to move them again and their massive size makes the Bobcat look like a toy.



Our biggest piece to move was a LIVE wing, a good wing, a kingy wingy dingy wing that only a few short, fat, balding guys would be allowed to touch. Fortunately, Paul had it sitting on rubber bladders and trusted the Bobcat enough to allow me to make the move.

1st Annual Prairie Motor Brigade in Red Deer Alberta

I should have posted this sooner so our Texas buddies had a better place to go for the Harvey Hurricane Weekend. We're thinking about you folks.

After coordinating a pile of shows this year, I'm taking tomorrow off and hauling 2 old jeeps to Red Deer for this event.



Decided to throw some chip board on the trailer to make it more presentable. Just happened to have brown and green preservative in the barn and just had to camo the deck.
Spent a grand on new rims and rubber, touched the paint up a little and we're rolling out by 730h to go touch a tank.

Plowboy. Looks like your having fun, maybe to much fun. All my favorite stuff, Military vehicles, Planes, Trains and what not. The Wife and I hope to make it to the Peg this season for a Jets game, and then we'll take in Portage & Main street.

1st Annual Prairie Motor Brigade in Red Deer Alberta

Only the bravest hockey fans go to Winnipeg in the winter. Keep us posted on your schedule.

It's so busy we didn't have time to build a shower to go in like they do at other rallies.



The trailer carried the jeeps 100 miles to Red Deer, 100 miles home, then drove another 80 miles to scare Gizmo the M135 out of the ditch and chase it back to home base in the dark. Only Gizmo would stop running on an off-ramp where she could roll off into a safe place in the ditch. She was near an airport so I couldn't refuse going back and talking her into making it home.




The Canadian forces were on-site with the big highway trucks and the howitzer. Nice view from the back seat of these massive cabs.......with radios...so they can listen to hockey games.



The Prairie Motor Brigade team did a great job to round up the troops and display some real cool gear.

Edmonton Military Base Extra Rare EMBER

Canada Day 2018 Convoy, tracks, trucks, MP's and family.

Got sidetracked from the Green iron a bit this year but when a good soul offers you a Parade ride in a M923, you take a camera!



This M923 from Minnesota, driven to Alberta in January, lol......by a New Yorker shire.....pulled up in front of my house on Canada Day. Now that in itself is cool.



This thing cruises at 55mph around 1800 RPM but they do attract attention.



MVPA has its privileges and the MP was only there to escort the Command Car, Ferret, Jeep, Iltis, Iltis, Iltis, M1010, Ferret convoy being joined by master Yawbo and us in the M923.

The local MVPA affiliates pulled together a crazy collection for the Military Family 'Canada Day' event at Namao base. Besides the 'never been on base' M923, the boys pulled in 2 tracked toys, M1A1, M35, M151 Mutt, LSVW Logistic Support Vehicle Wheeled, M1010, reinactors and a whole pile of antique fun for the kids.......



Not all the boys let the kids climb all over their toys, but that M923 New Yorker did. """Don't touch the buttons""" he'd say,........but with that Sicilian accent, he only had to tell them once. "Doon't tush the buns". Happy Independence Day folks, from a very Happy Canada Day!

June 8, 2019 Onoway Parade,

The first time we drove the M1010 Adventures into this town almost a decade ago, only two other MV's showed up. The local MVPA has been showing up in volumes since that first parade and 2019 was even better. The M923 was there and even won a trophy, more on that later! Thanks guys for always bringing it!



Look at that, Onoway shows up on the Fall Out, Reporting Post and Bunker Map, here's a snip. Top left corner is the old Railway bunker at Onoway. Top right side of the map was the S.A.C. base back in the 50's at Namao. Something about B-36's and refueling nuclear bombers so big,,,,,, all we could fit in the hanger was their nose.
We could also sneak the Space Shuttle up here and land it so it has some serious history.

Sylvan Lake Prairie Motor Brigade 2019

For the third year, convoys of history rolled out of the barns and safely down highways, this year to the little town of Sylvan Lake. It's a central location in Alberta that allows the north and south one weekend to gather each year. The last two years the fine folks at Prairie Motor Brigade http://www.prairiemotorbrigade.org/ set up in the little City of Red Deer and this year the Legion in Sylvan filled that role.



It's been a tough year to gather the herd with cold, wet, marginal weather so my hat is off to the folks who really enjoy these open displays for the public.



Our events also give the Canadian Forces a chance to set up a display and offer recruiting information to a wider audience. A few pics of the gun truck without the 25 pounder gun......... because Linda slept in and didn't have time to pick it up....I think that's what happened.



Linda needed her rest because she had a tough job taking driving lessons from kids all day. These little jeeps from Princess Auto made a lot of folks smile.

Can't believe it's been 5 years since buying a defective S-570 Bobcat and feeding lawyers so much cash it put me out of the MV parade circuit. I'm not on this trip with the team but they promised pics. Our past efforts created this opportunity with 16 participants on this convoy getting all expenses covered for fuel, accommodations, food and first row seats at the 2024 airshow. It starts tomorrow, but Smokey the Bear might have other plans. More pics coming.

Appreciate it Ahab. Defective equipment is a road trip we only hear about from others and don't expect to go through it. I'm just trying to get the manufacturer to warn consumers of the problem. The manufacturer would rather not discuss it. The first S-570 serial number ALM425802 couldn't be fixed after 4 months in the shop. They traded that for another shiny, new S-570 ALM426439 which was also twisted and also sat lower on the right hand side. That low corner would cause the buckets to hook on the right side and spin out. It's a dangerous thing to cover up so I'm still in the battle. The cost to do the right thing has been high but good friends and close family really help out.

Good Friends keep sending me pics of the "Smoked Out" airshow so let's get that rolling.

Impressive display of historic vehicles considering most traveled 180+ miles to get there. Although she got carried part of the way to save fuel, the Deuce is 269 miles from home.
