Aaahhhh! I'm ahead of you. lol. I actually purchased another hinge that will go in between the other two to give it more strength. My plan calls for adding a small crane on the roof, possible electrically operated to lift and lower the spare. I'll keep you guys posted as I progress along.Nice work, sounds like you need to start producing doors.
I do have concerns about the tire, they weigh around 200lb, IMHO the door hinges themselves will not support that much weight over a long period.

I just purchased a M997 2 weeks ago with the same issue, no rear doors. However, I was able to acquire 2 right side doors through ebay of which I deconstructed one of them and then reverse engineered a left side door using the same type aluminum, 1/4" PVC sheet, 3/4" plywood (Treated) and sandwiched together with marine grade adhesive and small bolts throughout. Total investment for one door is roughly $350. The door is much stronger than the original to which I bolted a spare tire carrier. This week I'll be building a right side door using same technique.
My M997 didn't have any Kevlar lining. The 2 right side doors I purchased were older. They both had an Interesting stencil saying "warning, these doors not to be used in combat". Once I disected the 1st door, I understood why. Very flimsy design with aluminum bracing and hard insulation sections to fill the voids.Yeah, I second that, very neat looking door. Did you reuse Kevlar lining? I have already bought original doors. What are your plans re steps (assuming they were removed too)?

I built mine and it was easier than I thought. I did look at Kevilar panels but didn't want to spend the $$$$ to build with. Other than being "tacticool" I don't foresee a need.I have an ambulance and Im just building my own. Its a PITA but slowly coming together. Plus Im making them semi bullet resistant

Where did you get the latches? Im building mine out of 500 steal with steal panels I really dont know why I am going over the top. I think its to teach my twin boys to weld.I built mine and it was easier than I thought. I did look at Kevilar panels but didn't want to spend the $$$$ to build with. What I did was get the parts TM and then get the part numbers. I search the part numbers and found them on line. One side came from the Hummer Parts Guy and the other side from Equipment Parts Sales. I fond the handles at army surplus warehouse. Part of the game/fun is finding parts. It's a treasure hunt. The only issue with surplus is it will dry up. It's an on going hunt. Also i am cheap so I try to find the best price. Not always easy. Hope this helps.Where did you get the latches? To convert the part numbers to a NSN I use part target. Sometime the same part will have multiple part numbers. Take the right latch. The TM calls out 12341711-1. Take that number and use part target to find the NSN of 5342-01-264-6533. Scroll down are you also find the other part numbers like 12341238 and 5597989. Search the numbers and sometime you will get lucky...
I think HPG is out of stock. EPS has one side but has gone up in price. Army Surplus Warehouse didn't have a part number listed but the picture looked to be right. Part target also has the manufactures on some items. You can also search on the manufactures and go that route. Like I said this is a treasure hunt. I use the above and map out to the X.... and sometime the treasure has been found by someone else...

They're just called door holders, the nsn # is 5340-01-309-7900 and they come with the rubber part on the body too.We made the top doors and bottom step/door for the 997A2 we are sending to Ukraine. We bought the "real" doors but can't send them out of the country so I guess I'll just sell them on ebay.
If folks need info on the process we used to make the doors I could post pix. What I am now looking for is the little door pins on the outside that clip into the rubber grommet things on the vehicle sides to hold the doors open. Anyone know the name of these things? We've got one so just need one. They look like this
