American-Marsh 1 cylinder Diesel 65GPM Potable Water Pump

Picked up this potable water pump this week.
Brand new and looks to only have been started for acceptance.
They didn’t even paint Unit numbers on this. Just a pump number tape that easily came off.

The 1 1/2” galvanized pipe is included in the shipping crate from factory and was installed and never piped for anything.
The Teflon tape is applied at factory.

The TM is shipped with the pump in the crate but obviously disappeared long ago.

I’m needing the TM if anyone has one.
The TM pictured is a slightly larger pump with same engine.
It’s not in the TM library here at SS.

I also read all the old threads in this
Forum and while several water pumps are discussed, none are relatable to this one.

I’m not sure if I can start this up and run it without water going through the pump.
I’ve read that a garden hose in the intake will work. Not sure and don’t want to ruin it.
Will be getting hoses with quick connections next week or so

Should be a great asset on the ranch and happy it’s Diesel.
Kohler bought out Lombardini sometime ago and parts are still available for this.
I’ve ordered a new Kohler fuel and oil filter.
Also ordered some factory Kohler fuel hose.
Some of the hoses on this unit are cracked from age and sunlight.
Their not plain rubber but some kind of propriety blend.

It’s heavy and definitely not a one person lift. Don’t know exact weight but it’s more than my lower back can handle.
It’s rated at 100db so it’s a loud pump too.

Happy with it so far.

Parts arrived today
New fuel filter and hose.
Should be enough hose to replace them all.
Anyone who buys one will have to replace the hoses.
All of the units at GP in Abilene were cracked.

Will be at least another week until it’s warm enough here to start it.

I do not have a TM for this thing, and the guy I go to for help, told me that he also can not find one. Is this a Marine or AF pump?

I do not know.
I picked it up from the GP yard in Abilene, Kansas
Just figured it was Army since so close to Fort Riley.

I found the commercial parts, user and maintenance manuals online for the engine only.
The pump is a different story.
American-Marsh was no help.

All I need to know really is can I start and run it with just a garden hose in the inlet pipe without screwing it up.

What we need to do is find the EM, (electronic Manual) CD, with the pumps and ROWPU's on it. If the TMs are anyplace, they will be there.

Added engine oil (Mobil 1 Delvac) and installed new fuel filter and fuel line.
Original line was hard as a rock and would literally snap if you tried to move it at all.
Installed new clamps too

The smaller fuel return line (which I didn’t have) was fine. You could bend it 90 degrees and it would come right back without issue.
It’s not regular Gates rubber fuel hose. Almost like a rubber plastic mix. Hard to explain.

Didn’t even need to prime system.
It’s a bit more difficult to pull the starter rope than a regular gas engine, but she started right up on the 3rd pull.

Just had the water hose stuck in the inlet pipe to keep pump internals Cool and happy. Hopefully…..

It’s mounted soild to the frame and REALLY vibrates.
Ran it for about 45 minutes.
Checked oil and topped off fuel tank and closed fuel valve.
Drained pump and wiped all the Kansas dirt off of it. Air hose did wonders when I brought it home.

Will be heading to hose shop tomorrow for QC fittings and hose.
Will probably get a trash screen attachment also.

Then it will be ready when needed.
